Background and purposeDiagnostic information about cell density variations and microscopic tissue anisotropy can be gained from tensor-valued diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These properties of tissue microstructure have the potential to become novel imaging biomarkers for radiotherapy response. However, tensor-valued diffusion encoding is more demanding than conventional encoding, and

Ultrafast electron dynamics in quantum cascade lasers hold enormous potential for the implementation of intense, compact mode-locked terahertz sources, squeezed terahertz light, frequency mixers, and comb-based metrology systems. Yet the important sub-cycle dynamics have been notoriously difficult to access in operational terahertz quantum cascade lasers. Here we show the first field-resolved two-

In addition to memory deficits and other cognitive disturbances, patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) experience neuropsychiatric symptoms, notably apathy, which is a state of impaired motivation observed by deficits in goal directed behavior. Apathy is a multifaceted neuropsychiatric condition and appears to be a prognostic indicator, correlating with the progression of AD. Strikingly, recent s

Reconfigurable transistors are an emerging device technology adding new functionalities while lowering the circuit architecture complexity. However, most investigations focus on digital applications. Here, we demonstrate a single vertical nanowire ferroelectric tunnel field-effect transistor (ferro-TFET) that can modulate an input signal with diverse modes including signal transmission, phase shif

Increasing survival rates for childhood cancer have brought attention to the high level of burden of cancer and its treatment. Improving supportive care for children throughout their cancer trajectory is thus important and could reduce the difficulties related to treatment, including time-consuming treatments and the waiting time associated with treatment procedures. The aim of this study is to de

This paper presents an inductorless ultra-low power frontend for applications such as sensor networks and medical implants. By using a completely inductorless topology the chip area is just 0.017mm2, excluding pads. A real input impedance of 300Ω is achieved with current feedback. Manufactured in 65nm CMOS, it measures more than 17dB gain from 100MHz to 2000MHz while consuming only 175μW from a 0.

The country’s preeminent public intellectual says anti-Americanism has run its course in the Islamic republic. Hardliners will try to roll back any openings, but in the long run, the country will find itself in a better place politically, economically and socially.

This study is an initial attempt to describe the established French loanwords in the lingua franca Sango, which is the main language spoken in the Central African Republic (CAR). It is a second language for the majority of the population of 3 million people for whom a great number of vernaculars serve as first languages. French loanwords in Sango are prompted by the contact between Sango and Frenc

We have calculated a random-phase-approximation-type expression for the dielectric response function of several large-band-gap insulators using a development of the model suggested by Fry. This model should be good for systems with well-localized valence-electron functions and flat valence-electron bands. We show that in this model it is a minor approximation to use spherically symmetric bands in

In this paper we give a general three-dimensional treatment of electromagnetic scattering from a finite obstacle in a stratified half space. The two generic cases of an obstacle either below all layers or inside one of the layers are treated. The results are an extension of earlier works on scattering in related geometries, treated by means of the T matrix method. Numerical results are presented f
