Acquisitions: Can takeovers be predicted using financial data?
The purpose with this essay is to examine whether there are significant differences between companies which have takeover targets and those which have not. Furthermore the possibility of predicting future acquisitions by studying key ratios is examined. Existing theories of acquisition motives and foremost previous studies with the purpose of constructing models for predicting takeover targets hav
Kinetics of Carbon Monoxide Exchange in Chloro and Bromo Carbonyl Complexes of Palladium(II) and Platinum(II)
Carbonyl exchange between [MX(3)((CO)-C-13)](-) (MX = PdCl, PtCl or PtBr) and (CO)-C-12 has been studied by IR and C-13 NMR spectroscopies as a function of temperature. The exchange is first-order in both CO and complex concentration, and the activation entropies are negative, suggesting an associative reaction mechanism. There is a small solvent effect. but no chloride dependence. Activation para

What Do The Best Strategic Thinkers Do? A Case Study of Cognitive Elements in Strategic Thinking Among Managers at Helsingborgshem
Since there is a lack of scientific knowledge concerning strategic thinking, this study sought to achieve a more comprehensive understanding of the concept. The presumption of the study is that one needs strategic thinking to deal with complex and unfamiliar situations. As globalisation is one main driving factor in the change of how business is run, there is an increased need for organisations to

3D nano-tomography using coherent X-rays
X-rays allow to non-destructively investigate biological, chemical or physical processes at thenano-scale. Their high penetration depth in matter allows to investigate samples even in-side sample environments, which would be difficult with complementary methods such astransmission electron microscopy (TEM).
Comparative study between numerical and analytical groundwater modelling
This study compares analytical and numerical models for groundwater modelling. The focus of comparison is to investigate the change of the analytical results when there is only a partial penetration of the aquifer. Two methods of comparison are used, the first one consisting of calculating a radial distance from a shaft to the point where the drawdown is 0.3 meters with both models. The second metCan pen and paper groundwater models compete with computer programs? Could something as simple as a pen and paper equation on the back of an envelope compete with advanced and expensive computer programs? Surprisingly, the answer could be yes for sandy soils. When modelling how a construction project will affect the groundwater surface, it’s easy to assume that the more advanced the model is, the
Five minutes more or less : Understanding the travel time experience in public transport
This study examines how public transport passengers experience and use travel time and under what conditions they are particularly concerned about shorter travel time. Using a survey of Swedish public transport users and a follow-up focus group, we compare current patterns with a similar 2009 study. Findings indicate a slight decline in perceived value of travel time, coinciding with a marked redu
Socio-Ecological Horizons In Consumer Research: : Sustainable Visions, Sentiocentrism Shifts and challenging Fantasies of Ethical Consumption
In this special session we wish to critique and reimagine the anthropocentric present. In contemporary consumerist society (Schmitt et al., 2022), the global “free market” is presented as the solution to the environmental and climate urgency through pillars like unlimited growth, responsibilized consumers, and not least, the domination of Nature (e.g. Hornborg 2019). This open access book examines the conversations around gendered mental health in contemporary Western media culture. This book traces this turn to sadness in womenExamines the discourse around female mental health in 21st century mediaIdentifies two conflicting aspects of mental illness awareness, profitable vulnerability and sad girl cultureTakes a feminist media studies approach to examine mental health in magazines and on social mediaThis open access book charts a brief history of gendered madness
Educational desires, intensive parenting and shifting notions of childhood and learning among Chinese Singaporeans
This paper seeks to expand our lens on educational desires, parenting and shifting notions of childhood and learning in East Asia and beyond. While not explicitly centered on migration, I suggest that the educational mobilities needs to be understood in relation to a growing tension between parents’ desire to achieve conventional success and the desire to nurture the child’s emotional well-being. Valorisation of fish waste biomass through recovery of nutritional lipids and biogas
Commercial fish catch in Eastern Africa is dominated by Nile Perch. Of the fish that is processed for human consumption, 30-40% is wasted. Currently, these wastes are not fully utilized; they are sold off at low price, converted to low valued products or left to decompose leading to environmental pollution and wastage of bioresource. This biomass has however a potential to generate considerable re
