Underground emissions and miners' personal exposure to diesel and renewable diesel exhaust in a Swedish iron ore mine

PURPOSE: Underground diesel exhaust exposure is an occupational health risk. It is not known how recent intensified emission legislation and use of renewable fuels have reduced or altered occupational exposures. We characterized these effects on multipollutant personal exposure to diesel exhaust and underground ambient air concentrations in an underground iron ore mine.METHODS: Full-shift personal

Economic and Environmental Potential of Large‐Scale Renewable Synthetic Jet Fuel Production through Integration into a Biomass CHP Plant in Sweden

The potential of bio‐electro‐jet fuel (BEJF) production with integration into an existing biomass‐based combined heat and power (CHP) facility was investigated. The BEJF is produced via Fischer–Tropsch (F–T) synthesis from biogenic CO2 and H2 obtained by water electrolysis. Techno-economic (TEA)‐ and life. cycle (LCA)‐ assessments were performed to evaluate the production cost and environmental im

Case Study Analysis – SWEDEN : HTR Task Users TCP by IEA

This report was developed under the ‘Users Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) by the International Energy Agency (IEA) Task on Hard-to-Reach (HTR) Energy Users’. The Task aims to provide country participants with the opportunity to share and exchange successful approaches identifying and better engaging HTR energy users. Under the Task, HTR energy users are broadly defined as 'any energy use

Deglaciation history and subsequent lake dynamics in the Siljan region, south-central Sweden - LiDAR evidence and sediment records

The Siljan region hosts Europe´s largest impact structure. The high-relief landscape, with a central granite dome bordered by lake basins, contains an array of glacial and shore-level landforms. We investigated its deglaciation history by mapping and analysing landforms on high resolution LiDAR-based Digital Surface Models coupled with well-dated sediment successions from peat and lake sediment co

Late glacial to Early Holocene deflation events and aeolian deposition on a raised ice-contact delta at Veinge, SW Sweden

Wind-abraded cobbles (ventifacts) and aeolian sand are known from the sandy-gravelly coastal areas of south-western Sweden, especially in association with raised deltas. Ventifacts are recorded on at least two different stratigraphic levels, on top of glaciofluvial sediment and/or on top of littoral deposits, while aeolian sand usually forms a surficial cover. The formation of ventifacts has usual
