Knowledge externalities and firm heterogeneity: Effects on high and low growth firms

Knowledge externalities affect high and low growth firms differently. The paper develops two theoretical arguments. The knowledge equilibrium argument postulates that knowledge externalities weaken high growth firms for the benefit of low growth firms until performance differences vanish. The knowledge competition argument claims that high growth firms are in a better position to identify, attract

Comparison of Clinical Factors Between Patients With Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor–Induced Angioedema and Cough

Background: Angioedema is a rare and serious adverse drug reaction (ADR) to angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor treatment. Dry cough is a common side effect of ACE inhibitors and has been identified as a possible risk factor for angioedema. Objective: We compared characteristics between patients with ACE inhibitor–induced angioedema and cough with the aim of identifying risk factors that

Comparative Study on the Machinability and Manufacturing Cost in Low-Lead Brass

Today, commercially used brasses commonly contain 2 to 4 wt.% lead. As the availability of low-lead and lead-freebrass increase, there are environmental incentives for investigating the consequences of replacing thelead-containing brasses with lead-free equivalents. Generally, lead-free brass is expected to have a lowermachinability than its lead-alloyed counterpart, implying a higher manufacturin

Evaluation of novel hollow fiber membranes for NOM removal by advanced membrane autopsy

A full-scale inside out hollow fibre membrane module was operated in a pilot-scale water treatmentplant in Sweden for a period of 12 months from August 2013 to July 2014. Liquid chromatography–organic carbon detection (LC-OCD) chromatogram indicated the membranes could effectivelyremove 86% of dissolved organic carbon and 92% of humic substances from the feedwater. Routinecleaning-in-place was con

Opening Hours Decision and Competition in the Motor Vehicle Inspection Market

This paper examines the effect of competition on a firm's choice of opening hours in the motor vehicle inspection market. Competition affects the incentive inspection firms face when choosing opening hours, which influences the probability that consumers find service time that best matches their preferred time. We use 2SLS analyses to resolve the potential endogeneity of market entry decisions. Us
