Thesis purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the interdependencies within the process of partner selection in the fashion and design sector and the emanating criteria for finding the ideal co-branding partner in order to use co-branding as a strategic brand activation tool. Methodology: Multiple Case Study Theoretical perspective: Brand Building and Brand Activation, Relationship Ma

Generation of 15 monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) allowed construction of epitope maps and specific two-site immunofluorometric assays for free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and PSA complexed with alpha 1-antichymotrypsin (ACT). Close correlation of PSA concentrations obtained with the use of different assays of free PSA suggested extensive similarity in immunodetection of free PSA in serum. Assays

This special issue contains a collection of papers that study how children are affected by their sibship size, using anthropometric data. The varied results provide a wealth of new knowledge and show that this influence is context-specific. In this paper I discuss the methodological challenges that we will encounter continuing research on resource dilution in families. The most important challenge

Let N be the number of members in a population. Fix any real number A≥2. We present a sequential search algorithm to estimate the exact value of N, with an error probability of at most exp(−A)+exp(−2A)+exp(−3A), regardless of the value of N.

This thesis addresses many issues surrounding the simple question: why have trams? With city populations exponentially growing alongside concerns over the environment and the economy, tramways have become a resurging form of sustainable transportation for municipalities. Once an endangered transportation mode, torn up and scrapped to make room for the age of cars, tramways are phoenix artifacts of

The contribution of germline copy number variants (CNVs) to risk of developing cancer in individuals with pathogenic BRCA1 or BRCA2 variants remains relatively unknown. We conducted the largest genome-wide analysis of CNVs in 15,342 BRCA1 and 10,740 BRCA2 pathogenic variant carriers. We used these results to prioritise a candidate breast cancer risk-modifier gene for laboratory analysis and biolog

Evacuation models commonly employ pseudorandom sampling from distributions to represent the variability of human behaviour in the evacuation process, otherwise referred to as ‘behavioural uncertainty’. This paper presents a method based on functional analysis and inferential statistics to study the convergence of probabilistic evacuation model results to inform deciding how many repeat simulation

The γ-ray emission from the nuclei 62,64Fe following Coulomb excitation at bombarding energy of 400-440 AMeV was measured with special focus on E1 transitions in the energy region 4-8 MeV. The unstable neutron-rich nuclei 62,64Fe were produced at the FAIR-GSI laboratories and selected with the FRS spectrometer. The γ decay was detected with AGATA. From the measured γ-ray spectra the summed E1 stre

The curve number (CN) method, developed by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), is one of the most widely used approaches worldwide to estimate runoff from rainfall events. However, one of the remaining uncertainties in the method remains whether to apply a frequency-matched or natural data approach for computing the CN from rainfall-runoff data. To address this knowledge gap, this s

This masters thesis deals with mathematical signal detection in the field of NQR, Nuclear Quadrapole Resonance, which is a non-invasive spectroscopic technique used to identify specific substances. The thesis has two main focuses, where the first is to propose novel methods for parameter estimation, especially for identification of unknown signals. These extend the existing Capon and APES methods

We examine the causes and policy implications of strategic (willful) ignorance of risk as an excuse to overengage in risky health behavior. In an experiment on Copenhagen adults, we allow subjects to choose whether to learn the calorie content of a meal before consuming it, and measure their subsequent calorie intake.
