The mechanomyogram (MMG) is a mechanical oscillations observable on the surface of the skin as a muscle contracts. Measurement of the MMG utilizing contact sensors with a weight greater than 6 g has proved to interfere with the measurement. Use of optical displacement sensors without direct contact to the skin would remove this deficiency. A Michelson interferometer, an intensity shift set-up and

Designing hardware using High Level Synthesis automates parts of the digital hardware design process. By automating the process control is passed from the designer to the tool, thus it is highly important that the tool generates high performance hardware in terms of area and speed. This thesis explores the tool performance of Vivado HLS using two designs implemented anew with High Level Synthesis

In 2014 during an organisational restructuring of Sony Electronics in Lund, an ongoing inhouse project to develop a resource management software was rushed to completion. The software had at the time been in active development by a team of software engineers for over a year but was quickly brought to completion to meet the new directives. Without clear product ownership and review, the softwa

Invasive alien species cause harm to native flora and fauna, and can ultimately via biotic interactions and alterations of the abiotic conditions change entire ecosystems. They have therefore during the last decades gotten more attention and are now recognised as one of the major threats to biodiversity worldwide. When invasive plants establish in an area, one concern is that their presence can af

Competence requirements is a field that has reached broad recognition in areas such as the Logistics & Supply Chain Management (L&SCM). Yet, in the DES field, there is little research which emphasizes on competencies or prerequisites for DES application. The goal for this master thesis is to explore and analyse what competencies and prerequisites facilitates DES application. The focus of t

The present study describes the anthropometrics of the Swedish workforce, aged 18-65, and compares the measurements with data collected four decades earlier. This anthropometric information is based on measurements of a total of 367 subjects, 105 males and 262 females. Of the 367 subjects, 268 responded to advertisements (Study A) and 99 were randomly selected from a community register (Study B).

This thesis deals with two aspects of recursive state estimation: distributed estimation and estimation for hybrid systems. In the first part, an approximate distributed Kalman filter is developed. Nodes update their state estimates by linearly combining local measurements and estimates from their neighbors. This scheme allows nodes to save energy, thus prolonging their lifetime, compared to centr

Roundabouts are continuing to increase due to their high traffic safety, low delay times and their winning design. However, there are also problems related to roundabouts; the traffic safety for cyclists is unclear or even negative and there are reports of accessibility problems for people with visual impairment. The overall objective of this project is to identify designs that improve the situati

The most common PID design methods in industry are based on formulas. This article will present some major advantages of instead using the power of computer based softwares for PID controller design. The Matlab based software used in this work was developed in 2007 and derives robust, IAE minimizing, PID controllers. The experiences of using this software are collected in this article and include

Internet of things technologies makes it possible to trace when and where the excellent food or wine is spoiled or loses perfect taste in logistics and retail. This paper describes a system using a two-layered wireless sensor network to monitor the supply chain from manufacturer to consumer, including the network topology, application software on server, and sensor node hardware. It employs GSM/GP
