Popular Abstract in Chinese 概括 II型糖尿病的發展趨勢在全世界範圍內非常迅速。我國目前有超過九千萬II型糖尿病患者，另外有大量血糖不正常的糖尿病高危人群。其中只有三成病人對自己的病情有所了解。II型糖尿病的病人與日俱增。 說到糖尿病，自然就會想到胰島素，以及血糖和胰島素的關系。胰島素是人體中非常重要的激素（荷爾蒙）。人體所需要的糖分主要是從食物中的澱粉類食物（米飯，面食）中來的，肉類也含有一部分的糖分。糖分從小腸吸收進入血液循環。胰島素的功能是讓身體細胞把血液中的糖分吸收進入細胞（比如肌肉細胞）加以使用，同時降低血液中的血糖成份。如果胰島素分泌不足，或者人體細胞對胰島素的敏感性降低會引起血糖升高，長期高血糖會損害血管和臟器的健康，最終導致糖尿病並發癥的發生。糖尿病並發癥是一種常見的慢性並發癥，後果相當嚴重，足部壞疽、腎功能衰竭、尿毒癥、視力模糊不清、失明、腦血Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a heterogeneous disease with a multifactorial aetiology comprising of genetic and environmental factors.
