Reliability test-retest of the Nordic Assisted Mobility Evaluation (NAME 1.0)
This paper describes preliminary results from the test-retest of the NAME 1.0. Four scales were tested: Mobility-related participation frequency; Mobility ease/difficulty; Mobility dependence; Extent of assistance in mobility. The test was conducted in the five Nordic countries. In all 147 mobility device users took part in the study, mean age 60 years (range 19 - 93). Each participant was intervi
The hematopoietic tumor suppressor interferon regulatory factor 8 (IRF8) is upregulated by the antimetabolite cytarabine in leukemic cells involving the zinc finger protein ZNF224, acting as a cofactor of the Wilms' tumor gene 1 (WT1) protein.
The transcription factor interferon regulatory factor-8 (IRF8) is highly expressed in myeloid progenitors, while most myeloid leukemias show low or absent expression. Loss of IRF8 in mice leads to a myeloproliferative disorder, indicating a tumor-suppressive role of IRF8. The Wilms tumor gene 1 (WT1) protein represses the IRF8-promoter. The zinc finger protein ZNF224 can act as a transcriptional c

Hand Veins Feature Extraction using DT-CNNs
As the identification process is based on the unique patterns of the users, biometrics technologies are expected to provide highly secure authentication systems. The existing systems using fingerprints or retina patterns are, however, very vulnerable. One’s fingerprints are accessible as soon as the person touches a surface, while a high resolution camera easily captures the retina pattern. Thus,
Challenges and opportunities for early career medical professionals in cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging : a white paper from the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance
The early career professionals in the field of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) face unique challenges and hurdles while establishing their careers in the field. The Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) has expanded the role of the early career section within the society to foster the careers of future CMR leaders. This paper aims to describe the obstacles and available oppo

How does the water chemistry in runoff water from stormwater pipes affect periphyton in Rönne Å?
Slutligen ville jag se om det finns skillnader mellan landsbyStormwater is runoff water from snow or rain events that enters a recipient shortly after the precipitations has reached the ground. Stormwater can contain heavy metals and nutrients depending on the type and size of the catchment area as well as the intensity and regularity of the precipitation. In high amounts, the pollutants can inhibit algal growth and have a negative effect in algal diversity

Regional and habitat-specific decline in Swedish bluethroats (Luscinia svecica)
Tundran, däribland de svensArctic ecosystems are among the most vulnerable to climate warming due to large-scale changes in temperature, followed by altered community structure. Northern birds are subject to population reduction and range contraction in Europe and many mountainous birds show negative trends. Even if global trends are clear, local studies on a detailed level are needed to obtain more information on possible
Drivers of global wildfires : statistical analyses
Wildfires play an important role in the earth system. Understanding the relationship between wildfires and their drivers is critical for us to predict fire regime transformations under the changing climate and anthropogenic influences. This study used the novel Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) burned area product MCD45A1 to characterize wildfires. The high resolution data were

Amniotic fluid derived mesenchymal stem cells reduce inflammation and improve lung function following transplantation in a porcine model
BACKGROUND: Lung transplantation is hindered by low donor lung utilization rates. Infectious complications are reasons to decline donor grafts due to fear of post-transplant primary graft dysfunction. Mesenchymal stem cells are a promising therapy currently investigated in treating lung injury. Full-term amniotic fluid-derived lung-specific mesenchymal stem cell treatment may regenerate damaged lu
