Variants in KCNQ1 are associated with susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus

We carried out a multistage genome-wide association study of type 2 diabetes mellitus in Japanese individuals, with a total of 1,612 cases and 1,424 controls and 100,000 SNPs. The most significant association was obtained with SNPs in KCNQ1, and dense mapping within the gene revealed that rs2237892 in intron 15 showed the lowest P value (6.7 x 10(-13), odds ratio (OR) = 1.49). The association of K

Does cheap talk matters when the U.S.A is dealing with North Korea?

A game theoretical analysis of international policy is of great interest from an economist’s point of view and game theory has widely been used when analysing international trade, tariffs etc. In this thesis I will use “Cheap-Talk games” to analyse if threats from the U.S. targeting North Korea are having any impact. This study investigates the growth in global renewable energy use between 2000 and 2014. To identify its main contributors and their geographical distribution, a structural decomposition analysis is applied to global multi-regional input-output tables.
