In recent years, plastic waste trade has received increasing attention due to huge amounts ending up in countries with high rates of mismanaged plastic waste and the environmental damage of plastic pollution. The EU has been exporting plastic waste to China for recycling purposes due to insufficient domestic recycling capacities, until 2018, when China decided to ban all imports of plastic waste.
Grandparents’ involvement in their adult children’s families has increased in recent decades, especially in relation to care arrangements around grandchildren. This ‘new army of proxy parents’ calls for the need to critically analyse grandparental care. Precipitates of the topologically close-packed (TCP) phases can significantly impact a material’s mechanical and fracture properties. This theoretical study uses ab initio modeling to investigate the σ phase of WOs, focusing on composition-dependent mechanical and fracture-related properties. Simultaneously, internal interactions between posters motivate them to contribute, even to outdo one another, and so a team spirit emerges.
