Comparison of national polycentric settings in the partner countries

In its most recent Energy Union package, the European Union puts citizens at the core of the cleanenergy transitions. Beyond policy, disruptive innovations in energy sectors are challenging thetraditional business model of large energy utilities. One such disruptive, social innovation is theemergence of new clean energy communities (“NEWCOMERS”).The possible benefits of these “NEWCOMERS” for their

Timing of Breeding Site Availability Across the North-American Arctic Partly Determines Spring Migration Schedule in a Long-Distance Neotropical Migrant

Long-distance migrants are under strong selection to arrive on their breeding grounds at a time that maximizes fitness. Many arctic birds start nesting shortly after snow recedes from their breeding sites and timing of snowmelt can vary substantially over the breeding range of widespread species. We tested the hypothesis that migration schedules of individuals co-occurring at the same non-breeding

Isolation and some properties of an IgG Fc-binding protein from group A streptococci type 15

An IgG Fc-binding protein was isolated from alkaline extracts of group A streptococci type 15 by ion-exchange chromatography and immunosorption on an IgG column. Ample use of protease inhibitors was necessary to achieve successful isolation. 600 micrograms protein was obtained from 60 g bacteria (wet weight). The protein appeared homogeneous on agarose gel and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide

Microcalorimetric studies on uraemic plasma

The heat production by human plasma in healthy and uraemic subjects has been measured by direct isothermal microcalorimetry. The plasma from uraemic subjects displayed an increased heat production compared to that of normal plasma. The heat production by plasma from healthy subjects, but not by that from uraemic patients, was both proportional to the amount of thiol groups in the plasma and also t

A tumor necrosis factor binding protein is present in human biological fluids

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) possesses both beneficial and toxic bioactivities. Mechanisms may operate to counteract harmful effects. We have identified a TNF binding protein (TNF-BP), which shows increased levels in serum and urine of patients on regular hemodialysis treatment (RDT). TNF-BP inhibited the specific binding of human recombinant TNF (rTNF) to its cell surface receptor. Results from ge

Rapid and facile purification of apolipoprotein A-I from human plasma using thermoresponsive nanoparticles

Nanoparticles can be used to purify proteins from plasma. We report here the purification of apolipoprotein A-I (apoA-I) with high specificity from human plasma using copolymeric nanoparticles. We present an optimized protocol using 50:50 NiPAM:BAM copolymer nanoparticles with thermo-responsive properties as an affinity resin. Repeated pelleting and washing of nanoparticle-captured apoA-I is achie

Global Health in Swedish Nursing Curricula: Navigating the Desirable and the Necessary

Global health challenges are likely to be aggravated in the coming years by rapid climate change and environmental degradation. To address the resulting health inequities, nurses need an integrated understanding of environmental and social determinants of health.

Genom att införa brottet grov kvinnofridskränkning skulle systematiska kränkningar av en närstående kvinna bestraffas strängare, vilkeGross violation of a woman’s integrity is a crime which penalizes a series of criminal acts committed by a man against a woman whom he is, or has been, married to or with whom he is or has been cohabiting under circumstances comparable to marriage. Imputation Methods in Dialysis Data

Most Favoured Nation clauses and online platforms: competitive effects and EU competition law

Most Favoured Nation clauses are often incorporated into agreements between online platforms and suppliers. These MFN clauses entail that the prices that are set by suppliers on these platforms, are not higher than the prices on other platforms or the suppliers’ own websites. In this thesis it will be discussed what the competitive effects of MFN clauses are and how they should be assessed under E

The main focus of academic research in the field tends to gravitate towards the social sciences rather than the communication sciences. The aim of this study is to deepen the knowledge of the communicative challenges that public diplomacy is facing as the intersection between internal and external pub

De digitala intäkterna lyckas dock inte väga upp för de förluster utgivarna lider av den nedåtgående försälIn today's digitized society, publishers of legacy printed media face major financial hardships in the sale of newspapers and other magazines. Thus, most publishers today have made their publications available to readers online. However, digital revenues do not make up for the losses that the publishers suffer from the decreasing sales of printed media. This can in part be attributed to the fa
