Yogi - Design for Treating Stress

Everybody involves stress in everyday life but not everyone handles it well. According to World Health Organization, stress and stress-related disorders are growing and in Sweden these disorders are considered serious public health problems. In this project, I am focusing in finding the way to help people decrease their stress. I developed a product that guides users to deep breathing. This object

The possible impact of Intermediate Mass Black Holes on our Galaxy

Orbit integration for three different assumed Intermediate-mass Black Hole (IMBH, defined as black holes with mass MBH in the range 100Mo < MBH 104Mo) populations in the Milky Way for 10 Gyr has been performed. Upon collision with molecular clouds in the galactic disc, the relative velocity between both objects has been measured and the luminosity resulting from the gas accretion process onto the

Investigation of groundwater resources - A case study in north-west Tanzania using remote sensing analysis and groundwater simulation

Globally 884 million people depend on unsafe drinking water, of which 159 million depend on untreated surface water (WHO, 2017). In Tanzania 44% of the popula- tion lack access to safe drinking water (WaterAid, 2017). Women and children in the small city of Chonyonyo, in Karagwe district are walking several hours a day for contaminated drinking water. According to a study, carried out in TanzaniIn Chonyonyo, a village in north-west Tanzania, the majority of the population have no access to the groundwater beneath them. Every day, women and children walk several hours to a hole shared with animals, to collect contaminated drinking water for their families’ domestic needs. This report shows that the groundwater resources in the area are sufficient to supply the people of Chonyonyo with fre

Business Models in Times of Change - Exploring how Internal Factors Influence Business Model Innovation

The business model is a useful concept to understand how a firm operates. However, little is known about how business models can be managed in times of change. The concept of business model innovation, which is also referred to as business model change on a component-level in the literature, constitutes the adaptation to external factors challenging the sustainability of a company’s business model

Dissecting the “Root Cause” Approach - A Discourse Analysis Of The Long Term European Migration Policy

This thesis uses a discourse analytical approach based on Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe to critically analyze long term migration policies. Hegemony and antagonism are used to show the development of the “Root cause discourse”. The discourse is based on the assumption that mainly illegal migration from underdeveloped sender states to more developed receiving states will in time diminish due to

Damage Identification in Concrete using Impact Non-linear Reverberation Spectroscopy

Non-linear acoustic methods has shown increasing potential in the identication of damage in brittle materials such as concrete. Commonly, these methods focus on one or several resonance frequencies of the material and on the relative change in resonance frequency and attenuation with strain amplitude which has been shown to allow one to identify the extent of the material damage. However, current

Missing Women Found On Historical Tea Plantations: Evidence From British India

It has been previously shown that an increase in the relative value of tea increases female survival rate by enhancing their economic value. By combining contemporary district-level census data with historical data on tea production, in this paper I examine whether contemporary regional variations in gender disparities across India can be traced back to the tea production induced by the British Ea

Påverkar sjöhandel tillväxt? - En tillväxtstudie av sjöhandels effekter

Because of increased volumes in trade, maritime transport has been developed into an important determinant for economic development. Considering 124 countries over three time periods, this study aims to present the general correlation between economic growth and seaborne trade. The result is achieved by constructing a two-way error component model with fixed time and country effects consisting of

Evaluation and Analysis of Value at Risk Methodologies for Exchange Rate Risk in the Euro Market

The deteriorating European economic situation has suggested the necessity of risk management in the exchange rate of EUR for governments and corporations, but there is few researches studying in this field. In this thesis, by choosing USD/EUR, JPY/EUR and GBP/EUR as subjects, with a focus on the availability of different methods to the estimation of exchange rate risk of EUR, we aim to calculate t

Partitioned methods for time-dependent thermal fluid-structure interaction

The invention of computers revolutionized the way of doing science and in particular the field of mathematics. Computers were faster than any human mind in doing calculations and they did not make mistakes opening a wide range of possibilities that earlier where in practice uncomputable. Scientists observe the behavior of nature and find mathematical equations that model the different phenomena. IThe efficient simulation of thermal interaction between fluids and structures is crucial in the design of many industrial products, e.g. turbine blades or rocket nozzles. The main goal of this work is to present a high order time adaptive multirate parallel partitioned coupled method for the efficient numerical solution of two parabolic problems with strong jumps in the material coefficients that

Due to the controversial nature of its business practices and contribution to environmental problems, the oil industry holds a poor reputation and is considered to have a special need to communicate their efforts towards more sustainable business p

How can ASSA ABLOY develop its M&A analysis with regard to supply chain synergies?

Abstract Title: How can ASSA ABLOY develop its M&A analysis with regard to supply chain synergies? Authors: Axel Johnsson and Erik Hellberg Supervisor: Andreas Norrman Examiner: Louise Bildsten Background: Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are majorly conducted with the ambition and endeavour of realizing synergies, thereby enabling the merged corporation to generate greater value compared Supply chain synergy analysis – A framework for operational M&A BY AXEL JOHNSSON & ERIK HELLBERG (May 2025) Potential synergistic effects are crucial to the decision of whether M&A transactions should be completed or not, and could be the difference between a failed and successful deal. This is why the study has produced a framework for comprehensive and accurate supply chain synergy

Effective Waves for Random Three-dimensional Particulate Materials

How do you take a reliable measurement of a material whose microstructure is random? When using wave scattering, the answer is often to take an ensemble average (average over time or space). By ensemble averaging we can the calculate the average scattered wave and the effective wavenumber. To date, the literature has focused on calculating the effective wavenumber for a plate filled with particlesHow do you take a reliable measurement of a material whose microstructure is random? Intra-organizational trust as a determinant of job satisfaction in the public sector. A case study of the Swedish Public Employment Service

From a managerial perspective, organizational effectiveness, whether internal or external, is of extreme importance. Therefore, management studies should investigate which phenomena need to be emphasized and safeguarded to utilize organizational effectiveness. Intra-organizational trust and job satisfaction are both defined as phenomena that are of influence on organizational effectiveness. This s

Condition Based Monitoring of Converting Line Equipment

Condition Based Monitoring techniques have been developed to monitor the condition of critical components in machines. The most widely used technique to detect damage in machine components is vibration monitoring, but there are areas where other methods could be a better option. Vibration measuring can also be used as a broader search for damage in components while other methods can specify the ex
