Dessa mineral har vid höga temperaturer och tryck ersatt tidigare mineral som ej längre varit stabila. Detta skedde då bergkedjan Svekonorvegiderna byggdes upp för ca 1 miljard år sedan. Delar av berggrunden pressades då ned mer än 50 km när den södra Mafic rocks in the southern part of the Mylonite zone preserve remnants of a high-pressure mineral assemblage. The rocks occur as lenses in migmatized gneisses. The mineral assemblage equilibrated at high-pressure granulite facies conditions during the Sveconorwegian orogeny.
