We use individual-level income data from archived taxation lists to study top-income earners in Sweden from 1909 to 1950. Using information on 21,055 individual taxpayers in two elite areas in greater Stockholm, we show that top incomes fell in real terms over this period, at a stable pace without obvious connection to the Great Depression or the world wars. Ultrashort laser pulses play an important role in many applications in science and technology, from attosecond science to time resolved spectroscopy and material processing. For applications of ultrashort laser pulses, it requires a complete characterization of the electric field of the pulse, which includes both phase and amplitude of the electric field. The characterization of ultrashort laser p

In many countries, the oil and gas industry (OGI) faces a sociotechnical problem related to illegal tapping, a complex phenomenon involving stealing products from pipelines. This study analyses the network constitution to understand and tackle this phenomenon, called ”clandestine diversion” (CD), which is the theft of oil and its derivatives products through illegal tappings of onshore pipelin

This thesis has the aim to provide a framework for analyzing X-ray fluorescence (XRF) data obtained from German Electron-Synchrotron Group (DESY). The theoretical analysis shows that XRF competes with Auger emission, and works mainly for elements with high atomic number. Here, incident X-rays of 13.7 keV, generated by the synchrotron radiation, impinges the material, and fluorescent X-ray spectra

The thesis focuses on the issue of sexual harassment against female workers in the readymade garment sectors of Bangladesh (RMGs). The study looks at this issue from the employers' perspective and it aims to shed light on: i) their acknowledgement of this problem, ii) their approach towards it. The thesis is a qualitative conducted study where interviews were used as a data collection tool. Fe

In this thesis, we consider a deep learning approach to predict material properties. Primarily we study artificial neural networks (ANN), which predict the energy distance to the convex hull (measure of stability) of perovskites. Further, we explore if the networks can be generalised to predict band gaps and unit cell volume. We also demonstrate total energy calculations using density functional t

Previous studies have documented structural and functional changes induced by ethanol-erythrocyte membrane interaction. In order to perform an in vitro study on the effect of different ethanol concentrations on erythrocyte hemorheologic properties, blood samples were collected from 21 male donors at the Hospital of Santa Maria. Whole blood aliquots were incubated with ethanol solutions of rising c

This study indicates valuable contributions of narrative criticism and rhetorical criticism. Together with the traditional historical-critical approach, these methods can help us toward an interpretation that lets us better understand the purpose and the function of the gospel-story. One purpose is for it to function as an argument in favour of the standpoint that Jesus is the Son of God, the Mess

In the years 1945–52, that is, between Raoul Wallenberg's incarceration in the Lubianka prison in Moscow (6 February 1945) and the first Swedish demand for his return (11 February 1952), more than fifty people provided the Swedish Foreign Ministry with diffuse and often contradictory information about his whereabouts. This article argues that a number of these testimonies may have been part of a S

This article offers a reconsideration of religious mobilisation in the inter- and post-war periods. It focuses on how the Church of Sweden gradually altered its catechetical activities aimed at children to meet changing needs. How does democracy affect income inequality? Most would expect democracy to reduce income inequality. There is a general consensus that indeed democratizations in Europe during the nineteenth and early twentieth century did decrease income inequality. More recent democratizations, those countries that democratized during the 1970s-1990s, however, do not seem to have had the same effect. The body o

The purpose with this essay was to examine and raise a child perspective on the inset home therapy. The purpose also included to get more knowledge about how much children in middle childhood are involved in investigations and social acts, and most of all when it comes to those measures that includes children themselves. We studied this from three different perspectives: one socialworker perspecti
