Effects of Farming Practice on Pollinators and Pollination across Space and Time

Popular Abstract in Swedish Intensifieringen av jordbruket under de senaste sextio åren har resulterat i en dramatisk produktionsökning av framförallt spannmål. Denna typ av produktion, speciellt det mest intensiva s.k. industrijordbruket, har samtidigt också resulterat i en ohållbar degradering av ekosystemen och miljön, till exempel förlust av biologisk mångfald, utsläpp av växthusgaser, förgiftSeveral studies have found that organic farms support higher biodiversity, but results vary between studies such that some also show no or even negative effects. There can be many reasons why studies comparing organic and conventional farming show conflicting results. The efficacy of organic farming can depend on focal taxa, landscape context, study scale and the proportion of organically managed

Interfacial nanofabrication strategies in development of new functional nanomaterials and planar supramolecular nanostructures for nanoelectronics and nanotechnology

Clusters, nanoparticles, nanowires, long molecules as nanotubes and polynucleotides, and functional supramolecular nanostructures are currently considered as potential building blocks for nanotechnology and nanoelectronic devices and circuits, and development and introduction of new methods to control effectively their structure, composition and nanoscale organization are necessary. Here we descri

Transcriptional regulation and effects on differentiation by LMO proteins and the basic helix-loop-helix factors TAL1 and HEN1

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most widespread type of cancer, as well as the most frequent leukemia in children. Malignant ALL cells originate from normal T lymphocytes or B cells that are blocked at immature stages of differentiation. Since T cell lineage derived ALL in children is associated with various unfavorable features, it is no surprise that childhood T lineage ALL have been r

E-Business in a Vendor-Customer Interface: Implications for Logistics Concerning Physical Distribution and Information Management

In today’s business environment the use of e-business is gradually becoming more common. This paper sets out to highlight the implications for logistical operations and possible future developments in a vendor-customer relationship (B2B environment) when e-business is introduced. The paper implies that use of an e-business solution does not necessarily mean any changes in the physical distribution

Lifetime measurements for excited states of rare-earth atoms using pulse modulation of a cw dye-laser beam

By pulse-modulating a cw dye-laser beam and employing the delayed-coincidence technique, we have determined the natural radiative lifetimes of a number of atomic states in rare-earth atoms Eu, Dy, and Yb. In the measurements, which were performed on an atomic beam, exponential decay curves with good statistics were obtained using short measuring times. The general features of the technique are dis
