External Mycelia of Mycorrhizal Fungi - responses to elevated N in forest ecosystems

Popular Abstract in Swedish De flesta växter lever i symbios med mykorrhizasvampar. Mycorrhizal roots constitute the interface between the plant and the soil, and almost every fine root of forest trees in nitrogen-limited boreal and temperate forests is colonised by ectomycorrhizal (EM) fungi. The mycelia of EM and ericoid mycorrhizal (ErM) fungi are very important for plant N uptake and N cycling in forest soils. Earlier labo

High-resolution study of the C-12(gamma,p gamma')B-11 reaction using a HpGe detector to resolve excited states of B-11 through the observation of their gamma-ray decays

Relative populations of states in 11B following the 12C(,p)11B reaction have been measured with high resolution using a 70% HpGe detector to observe decay rays from the residual nucleus. The triplet of states near 7 MeV in 11B are resolved and the measured populations compared to previous data. The analysis includes a consideration of -proton angular correlations, which was not made in the previou

The appropriateness of colonoscopy: a multi-center, international, observational study

Objective. To examine the appropriateness and necessity of colonoscopy across Europe. Design. Prospective observational study. Setting. A total of 21 gastrointestinal centers from 11 countries. Participants. Consecutive patients referred for colonoscopy at each center. Intervention. Appropriateness criteria developed by the European Panel on the Appropriateness of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, u

Individual and Structural Determinants of Environmental Practice

During recent years, there has been a growing awareness that a better understanding of human activities and the behavioural components of environmental problems is needed. This volume brings together psychologists, philosophers, sociologists, historians of technology and economics, and management experts to identify and examine the rules and motives that govern the environmental behaviour of indiv
