Predictors of hypogammaglobulinemia in ANCA-associated vasculitis after a rituximab-based induction : a multicentre study

OBJECTIVES: Rituximab has become the cornerstone of induction treatment in ANCA-associated vasculitis (AAV). B cell depletion may increase the risk of hypogammaglobulinemia, potentially leading to severe infections. This study aims to assess factors associated with hypogammaglobulinemia in AAV patients treated with rituximab.METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included AAV patients treated wi

Patients having surgery for ulnar nerve compression at the elbow rarely have affection of the spinal nerve root at C8-Th1 levels

Cervical pathology may contribute to residual problems after surgery for ulnar nerve compression. We aimed to evaluate the presence of pathological conditions in spinal cord and cervical spinal nerve roots in patients surgically treated for ulnar nerve compression at elbow. In a cohort of patients, surgically treated for ulnar nerve compression at elbow, magnetic resonance images (MRI; performed 3

CHEOPS geometric albedo of the hot Jupiter HD 209458 b

We report the detection of the secondary eclipse of the hot Jupiter HD 209458 b in optical/visible light using the CHEOPS space telescope. Our measurement of 20.4−3.3+3.2 parts per million translates into a geometric albedo of Ag = 0.096 ± 0.016. The previously estimated dayside temperature of about 1500 K implies that our geometric albedo measurement consists predominantly of reflected starlight

A Qualitative Systematic Review About Children’s Everyday Lives when a Parent Is Seriously Ill with the Prospect of Imminent Death - Perspectives of Children and Parents

Parental dying is a life changing experience for children. This study explores children’s strategies and (inter)actions in their everyday life when facing critically ill parents and imminent death, from the children’s and parents’ perspectives. A qualitative systematic review was carried out, registered in PROSPERO (CRD42022306862). A literature search and screening in six databases resulted in ei

"I'm a slave now, for all my fine clothes" : Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and the Dido myth

Shaw’s Pygmalion is commonly thought of as an adaptation of the myth of Pygmalion, the sculptor who fell in love with his own sculpture. However, the name of “Pygmalion” in ancient mythology is shared by Dido’s brother, Pygmalion of Tyre. This article suggests Pygmalion as playing with these two mythological Pygmalions by moving through the play from the myth of Pygmalion the Cypriot sculptor to t

HIV and access to fertility treatment in the European and Swedish contexts

Across Europe many people living with HIV face discrimination in accessing fertility treatment. This short communication presents an updated mapping of regulations across Europe, along with a consideration of the Swedish context. Overall, the accessibility and availability of MAR for people living with HIV in Europe is complicated and, in some countries, inconsistent. We encourage sharing best pra

Human-Robot Collaboration for Kinesthetic Teaching

Recent industrial interest in producing smaller volumes of products in shorter time frames, in contrast to mass production in previous decades, motivated the introduction of human–robot collaboration (HRC) in industrial settings, as an attempt to increase flexibility in manufacturing applications by incorporating human intelligence and dexterity to these processes. This thesis presents methods for

Wall Paintings from Gordion in their Anatolian Context

Excavations conducted by the University of Pennsylvania at Phrygian Gordion have so far only revealed wall paintings from one small building. This structure was prominently located between two large Middle Phrygian megara at the outer court of the citadel and dates to the beginning of the Achaemenid period (ca. 500–490 BCE). The building was unique regarding both its decoration and architectural f
