Course
Course 7.5 credits • ALSM21
How is language represented in the brain? Are different linguistic levels like phonology, syntax, and semantics mere theoretical constructs, or are they distinguished in our neural organization? Has language been adapted to the brain or vice versa? The course discusses these and many more questions.
This is a theoretical course about the relation between language and the brain. It covers all linguistic levels and how they are linked to the brain’s processing and structure. We will also go through methods for assessing brain activity and structure, including MRI, EEG, MEG, and TMS, as well as clinical evidence for the brain’s various language-related functions.
