Our People a Tight-knit Family under the Same Protective Roof : A Critical Study of Gendered Conceptual Metaphors at Work in Radical Right Populism

Activation of AMP-activated protein kinase stimulates Na+,K +-ATPase activity in skeletal muscle cells
Contraction stimulates Na+,K+-ATPase and AMP-activated protein kinase(AMPK)activity in skeletal muscle. Whether AMPK activation affects Na+,K+-ATPase activity in skeletal muscle remains to be determined. Short term stimulation of rat L6 myotubes with the AMPK activator 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide- 1-β-D-ribofuranoside (AICAR), activates AMPK andpromotes translocation of the Na+,K +-ATPase α1-su

Opportunities and Challenges for GeoBIM in Europe: developing a building permits use-case to raise awareness and examine technical interoperability challenges
The integration of geoinformation with BIM (GeoBIM) is critical to underpin solutions to many city-related challenges. However, to achieve an effective integration it is necessary to consider not only data and technical options but also current practice and users’ needs. This paper describes work carried out within the EuroSDR-GeoBIM project to address this challenge. After investigating potential
Exploring and expanding improvisatory knowledge in musical practice
This project was carried out as a series of concerts and workshops of organ improvisation with six professional performers. The purpose was to further explore experiences made in the artistic research project Rethinking organ improvisation, which pointed at how improvisation differs in musical character and function between different performance contexts. Our aims were to •rethink improvisation in
Clickable, hybrid hydrogels as tissue culture platforms for modeling chronic pulmonary diseases in vitro
Statement of Purpose: Many chronic pulmonary diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), pulmonary hypertension (PH) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), are complex and poorly understood. While great progress has been made to elucidate the cellular and molecular pathways underlying these diseases, treatment options remain limited. The dynamic alterations in mechanical pr
Clinician perspectives of Basic Body Awareness Therapy (BBAT)in mental health physical therapy : An international qualitative study
Introduction: Body awareness is a movement therapy used in Physical Therapy in Mental Health especially in Scandinavia. The method Basic Body Awareness Therapy has been scientifically investigated in particular for patients with Depression, Schizophrenia and Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD). Methods: Thirty-four Physical Therapists from 13 countries working with the Basic Body Awareness Thera
Fractionation and characterization of starch granules using field-flow fractionation (FFF) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
Starch is one of the main carbohydrates in food; it is formed by two polysaccharides: amylose and amylopectin. The granule size of starch varies with different botanical origins and ranges from less than 1 μm to more than 100 μm. Some physicochemical and functional properties vary with the size of the granule, which makes it of great interest to find an efficient and accurate size-based separatio

Constructing radical right populist resistance : Metaphors of heterosexist masculinities and the family question in Sweden
The construction of radical right populist resistance around metaphors ofmasculinity at the beginning of the 21st century is a little researched area. Thisarticle accounts for the discursive redefinitions of Swedishness enabled byconceptual metaphors in order to accommodate centrally located heterosexistmasculinities at the intersection of gender, class, and ‘race’, as heralded by the main Swedish
Mechanistic study of the reaction of CH 2 F 2 with Cl atoms in the absence and presence of CH 4 or C 2 H 6 : Decomposition of CHF 2 OH and fate of the CHF 2 O radical
To assess the atmospheric fate of fluorinated compounds, chamber experiments were performed with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy investigating the products of difluoromethane, CH 2 F 2 , at 296 ± 2 K. The reactions were initiated by reaction of CH 2 F 2 with Cl atoms in the absence and presence of CH 4 or C 2 H 6 in air or O 2 . No evidence of formation of the fluorinated alcohol, CHF 2 O
Globalisation and its male contenders?: The question of conservative masculinities within the radical right populist discourses across the EU
Acknowledging that globalisation discourses privilege masculinities, the present article moves the focus from the manifestations of hegemony of globalising masculinities in the business sphere as motors of global patriachy. Instead it evidences the strategies for survival and/or reassertion of gender hierarchies centred on the traditional masculinities fostered by radical right populist (RRP) part
Towards a virtuous circle - Third Cycle artistic research in the conservatoire as creative dialogue, critical reflection and discipline development
This presentation addresses questions concerning the relationship between 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles in higher music education (HME), and the transformative possibility of artistic research in conservatoire contexts. In the conservatoire tradition, knowledge and experience of music as both a craft and an art is held, transmitted and developed. Previous research shows that young students of classical
Two caveats to the meta-problem challenge
I present two caveats to the meta-problem challenge to theories of consciousness. Chalmers suggests that a theory of consciousness that solves the hard problem should also inform us about the meta-problem, and vice versa. The first caveat is the view that mechanism M, the mechanism through which content becomes conscious, may be neutral with respect to the content it renders conscious. This means

How is alpha-synuclein cleared from the cell?
The levels and conformers of alpha-synuclein are critical in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease and related synucleinopathies. Homeostatic mechanisms in protein degradation and secretion have been identified as regulators of alpha-synuclein at different stages of its intracellular trafficking and transcellular propagation. Here we review pathways involved in the removal of various forms of al
Is everybody an expert? An investigation into the impact of professional versus user reviews on movie revenues
This study is the first attempt to examine the effect of electronic word of mouth (user reviews) relative to expert reviews on moviegoing decisions. For the first time, we use time-varying data on expert reviews. We find that expert ratings matter much more for moviegoing decisions than user ratings and volume. Our data also show that experts tend to be more critical but more consistent in their r
