Measurement of the p–Σ+ correlation function in pp collisions at s=13 TeV

In this letter, the first measurement of the femtoscopic correlation of protons and Σ+ hyperons is presented and used to study the p–Σ+ interaction. The measurement is performed with the ALICE detector in high-multiplicity triggered pp collisions at s=13 TeV. The Σ+ hyperons are reconstructed using a missing-mass approach in the decay channel to p+π0 with π0→γγ, while both Σ+ and protons are ident

Effective science communication in the face of water crises: a community perspective on challenges and best practice in HELPING

Addressing global water crises demands effective communication across diverse audiences, especially in initiatives such as the scientific decade HELPING by the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS). This study synthesizes insights from the hydrological community, gathered through interviews, workshops and a digital survey. We identify key challenges and best practices across th

Identifying essential COVID-19 indicators for primary healthcare through Delphi analysis in 31 European countries: Eurodata eDelphi study

Background The COVID-19 pandemic has underlined the essential role of primary healthcare (PHC) in epidemiological surveillance and public health decision-making. Across Europe, the integration of electronic health records (EHRs) and the sentinel networks have been pivotal in monitoring COVID-19. However, the lack of standardized PHC indicators for COVID-19 hinders the comparability of data among c

Efficacy of once-daily, high-dose, oral insulin immunotherapy in children genetically at risk for type 1 diabetes (POInT): a European, randomised, placebo-controlled, primary prevention trial

Background Type 1 diabetes begins with autoimmunity against pancreatic islet antigens, including insulin. The aim of the Primary Oral Insulin Trial (POInT) was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of daily high-dose oral insulin to prevent the development of islet autoantibodies and diabetes. Methods In this randomised, controlled, primary prevention trial, genetic screening in seven obstetric and

A case of severe immune-related adverse events, myocarditis with myositis, and myasthenia gravis overlap syndrome following adjuvant nivolumab administration for muscle-invasive bladder cancer

Herein, we present a case of severe immune-related adverse events (irAEs), myocarditis with myositis, and myasthenia gravis overlap syndrome (IM3OS) in a patient receiving an immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI), as adjuvant therapy after surgery for muscle-invasive bladder cancer. An 80-year-old woman who had undergone a total cystectomy for bladder cancer presented with ptosis, diplopia, and paraly

Collaboration among emergency first responders at major incidents – an explorative focus group study

BackgroundIn the event of a major incident, collaboration between the ambulance service, fire brigade and police is common. Effective collaboration requires teamwork, with communication between the three organisations being crucial. Leadership functions should be integrated in a way that leverages organisation-specific capabilities, enabling interprofessional collaboration where diverse profession

Patient safety and predictors for subsequent healthcare contact after self-care referral from Swedish ambulance services: a retrospective cohort study

BackgroundAmbulance clinicians increasingly refer patients to self-care, positioning ambulance service within a wider gatekeeping role and necessitating the assessment of whether self-care is a safe option or if further support is needed. Contrary to primary healthcare centre (PHC) referrals, self-care referrals often lack structured follow-ups, with the decision consequences remaining underexplor

Experiences among men with localised urinary tract infection in primary care: a qualitative study

Background: General practitioners (GPs) do not see men with localised urinary tract infection (UTI) very often which limits their possibility of developing expertise in the area. To gain knowledge of male patients' experiences and perspectives on localised UTIs, qualitative research is needed.Aim: To explore expectations, experiences and symptoms in men with localised urinary tract infection in prBackgroundGeneral practitioners (GPs) do not see men with localised urinary tract infection (UTI) very often which limits their possibility of developing expertise in the area. A Conceptual Framework for Understanding Patient Expectations in Individualised Anaesthesia and Analgesia: A Narrative Review and Future Directions

Acute postoperative pain remains a major clinical challenge, affecting both recovery and resource utilisation. Beyond nociceptive input, pain is shaped by cognitive and emotional factors, including patient expectations. This narrative review examines the role of expectations in perioperative pain modulation, framed within predictive coding and Bayesian inference models. These models conceptualise

Palmen och kronan: En semiotisk studie om brittiska kolonialfrimärkens budskap och ideologi 1890–1960

This thesis conducts a semiotic study of British colonial stamps produced between 1890 and 1960. The main focus is the stamp's message and ideology, understood within the theoretical framework of Roland Barthes and complemented with postcolonial theory by Anne Kaplan and John MacKenzie. The study concludes that two main mythologies can be constructed by analysing the samples, one regarding the

En komperativ undersökning av två fenomenologiska teorier tillämpade på Landskrona konsthall

This thesis examines how the architecture of Landskrona Konsthall is experienced. Building on a formalist analysis, it investigates two distinct phenomenological perspectives, Wölfflin’s concept of spatial forces and Rasmussen’s emphasis on sensory perception. Methodologically, the study combines reading of theory with on-site field observations, in which visual and sensory impressions are documen

A QR Decomposition Accelerator for Digital Beamforming

QR decomposition (QRD) is a computationally-intensive matrix factorization method which is widely used in signal processing. Meeting the stringent processing budgets of real-time applications necessitates dedicated hardware acceleration. This thesis presents the architecture and Register-Transfer-Level (RTL) implementation of a QRD accelerator based on Givens rotations, specifically designed to ac

Vätgasexplosioner i realistiska utsläppsmiljöer– En validering av beräkningsmodeller för gasmolnsexplosioner

This thesis evaluates the ability of three hand-calculation models for estimating overpressure from hydrogen vapour cloud explosions. The models were the TNT, TNO and OHVE models. The aim was to assess their performance in realistic release environments and identify their strengths and limitations. Model predictions were validated against experimental data from three experimental setups: a refuell

Truxillate polyesters derived from dimethoxycinnamic acid: melt-polycondensation, properties, and hydrolytic and enzymatic degradation

We report on the synthesis and characterization of polyesters and copolyesters derived from a rigid aromatic cyclobutane diester monomer, 3,4-dimethoxytruxillic acid dimethyl ester (DMDMTr), prepared via [2 + 2] photodimerization of 3,4-dimethoxycinnamic acid. Using an optimized two-step melt transesterification–polycondensation method, DMDMTr was polymerized with various aliphatic diols to yield

Constraints on the expansion of organic farming in highly productive regions

CONTEXT: Uptake of organic farming falls short of stated sustainability targets, particularly in highly productive regions where adoption could mitigate environmental impacts of intensive farming. Several hypotheses have been advanced to explain the constraints on adoption, but these have not been assessed within an integrative, interdisciplinary framework.OBJECTIVE: The objective was to develop a

Multispectral coded light for high-speed temperature imaging of aluminum combustion

Aluminum is a promising carbon-free energy carrier, but advancing its use requires detailed understanding of its combustion behavior at the single-particle level. Measuring the transient surface temperatures of burning aluminum droplets is particularly challenging due to their small size, extreme temperatures, and fast dynamics. In this work, we demonstrate a multispectral pyrometry approach based

Measurement of charged hadron multiplicity in Au+Au collisions at sNN= 200 GeV with the sPHENIX detector

The pseudorapidity distribution of charged hadrons produced in Au+Au collisions at a center-of-mass energy of sNN = 200 GeV is measured using data collected by the sPHENIX detector. Charged hadron yields are extracted by counting cluster pairs in the inner and outer layers of the Intermediate Silicon Tracker, with corrections applied for detector acceptance, reconstruction efficiency, combinatoria
