Irreducible Representations of Quantum Affine Algebras
We construct finite-dimensional representations of the quantum affine algebra associated to the simple finite-dimensional Lie algebra sl(n+1). The module structure is defined on the vector space tensor product of the fundamental representations of the quantum affine algebra. To do this, we find a particular basis of every fundamental representation, consisting of eigenvectors for some of the Drinf
Toward Sustainable Destinations: An analysis of the Danish destination recognition scheme - Destination 21 and the Island of Møn
The study aims to establish the effectiveness of the Danish destination certification scheme – Destination 21. In order to accomplish this, an analytical framework, based upon current tourism and development theory, was constructed against which the scheme was tested. The analytical framework consists from three analyses examining the schemes framework, substance and applicability. It was found th

The Success Factors Powering Industry- Academia Collaboration
Collaboration between industry and academia supports improvement and innovation in industry and helps to ensure industrial relevance in academic research. This article presents an exploratory study of the factors for successful collaboration between industry and academia in software research.
Pump-probe scheme for electron-photon dynamics in hybrid conductor-cavity systems
Recent experiments on nanoscale conductors coupled to microwave cavities showed the prospect of transport investigations of electron-photon interplay in the deep quantum regime. Here we propose a pump-probe scheme to investigate the transient dynamics of individual electron-photon excitations in a double-quantum-dot-cavity system. Excitations pumped into the system decay via charge tunneling at th
Variation at 3p24.1 and 6q23.3 influences the risk of Hodgkin's lymphoma
In addition to HLA, recent genome-wide association studies (GWASs) of Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) have identified susceptibility loci for HL at 2p16.1, 8q24.21 and 10p14. In this study, we perform a GWAS meta-analysis with published GWAS (totalling 1,465 cases and 6,417 controls of European background), and follow-up the most significant association signals in 2,024 cases and 1,853 controls. A combine
Performance of the ALICE VZERO system
ALICE is an LHC experiment devoted to the study of strongly interacting matter in proton-proton, proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at ultra-relativistic energies. The ALICE VZERO system, made of two scintillator arrays at asymmetric positions, one on each side of the interaction point, plays a central role in ALICE. In addition to its core function as a trigger source, the VZERO system
Oak leaves as aerosol collectors: relationships with wind velocity and particle size distribution. Experimental results and their implications
Advancing the understanding of the aerosol-capture efficiencies of forest components such as leaves and needles, and of the mechanisms that underpin these efficiencies, is essential to the many related issues of forest turnover of nutrients and pollutants. For idealized collectors (such as artificial plates or cylinders) aerosol-mechanics offers a means for calculating capture efficiencies. For li
An approach to constraint-based and mass-customizable product design
In traditional product development, several iterations are usually necessary to obtain a successful compromise between constraints emanating from engineering, manufacturing, and aesthetics. Moreover, this approach to product development is not well suited for true mass-customization, as the manufacturing company remains in control of all aspects of the shape of the product-to-be. In this article,
Investigation and optimisation of mobile Nal(Tl) and He-3-based neutron detectors for finding point sources
Neutron radiation produces high-energy gamma radiation through (n,gamma) reactions in matter. This can be used to detect neutron sources indirectly using gamma spectrometers. The sensitivity of a gamma spectrometer to neutrons can be amplified by surrounding it with polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The hydrogen in the PVC acts as a moderator and the chlorine emits prompt gammas when a neutron is captured

Images of the EU in EPA negotiations: Angel, demon - or just human?
A striking feature of the discourses surrounding the negotiations of Economic Partnership Agreements between the EU and developing states is the starkly contrasting pictures given of the role and nature of the EU. The Union is either portrayed as an angel, an actor with altruistic objectives, concerned primarily with the economic and social development of the ACP countries, or as a demon, an actor
Effects of Water Stress, Organic Amendment and Mycorrhizal Inoculation on Soil Microbial Community Structure and Activity During the Establishment of Two Heavy Metal-Tolerant Native Plant Species
Our aim was to examine the effect of water stress on plant growth and development of two native plant species (Tetraclinis articulata and Crithmum maritimum) and on microbial community composition and activity in the rhizosphere soil, following the addition of an organic amendment, namely sugar beet residue (SBR), and/or the inoculation with an arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungus, namely Glomus mos
A TX VCO for WCDMA/EDGE in 90 nm RF CMOS
A VCO is implemented in an RF 90 nm CMOS process and covers the frequency range 2.55-4.08 GHz. Drawing 19 mA from 1.2 V, the phase noise at 20 MHz frequency offset from a 3.7 GHz carrier is -156 dBc/Hz, meeting the phase noise requirement for GSM/EDGE and SAW-less WCDMA transmitter after frequency division by 2 or by 4. A second version of the VCO covers an additional 4.90-5.75 GHz range, at the e
Diagnosis and progression of sacroiliitis in repeated sacroiliac joint computed tomography.
Objective. To assess the clinical utility of repeat sacroiliac joint computed tomography (CT) in sacroiliitis by assessing the proportion of patients changing from normal to pathologic at CT and to which degree there is progression of established sacroiliitis at repeat CT. Methods. In a retrospective analysis of 334 patients (median age 34 years) with symptoms suggestive of inflammatory back pain,
C-reactive protein, immunoglobulin G and complement co-localize in renal immune deposits of proliferative lupus nephritis
The pattern recognition molecules C-reactive protein (CRP) and C1q are of big interest in relation to the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Circulating autoantibodies against CRP and C1q are frequently found in SLE patients with active disease, particularly in lupus nephritis (LN), and rising levels reportedly relate to disease activity and outcome. If CRP-, or dsDNA- and/or C1q-
A new model for CO₂-absorption of concrete structures. CO₂-cycle in cement and concrete Part 7: Models for CO₂-absorption.
After further laboratory and field studies we have now used the previous and new findings to create a model for CO₂-absorption of concrete structures. Some knowledge is still missing and some results are still not fully understood. In those cases we have done our best to base the model on reasonable assumptions, from what could be expected from some new literature that has been studied.

Metabolite profiles and the risk of developing diabetes
Emerging technologies allow the high-throughput profiling of metabolic status from a blood specimen (metabolomics). We investigated whether metabolite profiles could predict the development of diabetes. Among 2,422 normoglycemic individuals followed for 12 years, 201 developed diabetes. Amino acids, amines and other polar metabolites were profiled in baseline specimens by liquid chromatography-tan
