Comparing Kolmogorov-Arnold Networks and Conventional Machine Learning Algorithms for sEMG Based Movement Classification

Myoelectric prosthetics utilize machine learning(ML) algorithms to translate surface electromyography(sEMG) signal patterns into movement, allowing patients to easily control their prosthesis. While the use of conventional ML algorithms has been effective within these prosthetics, challenges still remain in terms of classification accuracy and computation speed. It was hypothesized that Kolmogorov

Rapidity Correlation of K/π to ϕ in γSCSM and Pythia

Pythia with Rope Hadronization, and the Canonical-Statistical Model with strangeness undersaturation (γSCSM), have shown remarkably similar results when simulating strange hadrons yields relative to pion yields as a function of event-multiplicity. As the underlying assumptions in these models are very different, a novel observable is warranted. The aim of this thesis is to show that K0S/(π+ + π−)

Det långsiktiga målet med direktivet är att unionenSustainability has become increasingly important in recent years as global warming continues to be the most serious threat to our environment. The real estate sector accounts for 40 percent of the total energy consumption in Europe. To address this issue, the European Union initiated the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which aims to reduce energy consumption and achieve a fully d

YALLA HABIBI HIT, VI ÄR MUJTAMA AL-MEEM/مجتمع الميم - Queera liv i en syrisk heteronormativ kontext: identiteter i skuggan, motståndsstrategier, och framtida (o)möjligheter

Projektet betonar hur motståThis project explores how ”Mujtama Al-Meem/مجتمع الميم/queer people” in Syria deal with the limitations of societal conservatism, political violence, and heteronormativity in their day-to-day lives. Drawing on qualitative online interviews, it explores how queer Syrians perform their identities, create support networks, and imagine different futures. The project emphasizes how resistance manifests

The Impact of Overconfidence Bias on Strategic Decision-Making

Strategic decision-making (SDM) is a core function of managerial roles, often carried out under pressure, uncertainty, and cognitive limitations. This thesis explores how overconfidence bias affects strategic decision-making in organisational settings. While cognitive biases have been extensively studied in psychology and behavioural economics, the specific impact of overconfidence on business-rel

The Mentoring Cycle: A Qualitative Study On Women’s Cyclical Female Mentoring Experiences

The phenomenon of cyclical female mentoring, defined as women’s engagement in same gender mentoring relationships both as a mentee and a mentor, has been underexplored in the mentoring literature. The purpose of this study is thus to understand how women experience cyclical female mentoring, with a specific focus on relational, gender-focused, and learning dimensions. To fulfil this purpose, the s

Dressing Up the Damage: Sustainability Reporting in the Apparel Retail Industry

Sustainability reporting remains a well-established field of research, with many important contributions. Additionally, the public has a growing desire for firms to adopt responsible ESG practices, thus requiring more transparency and accountability. Without the acceptance from the public, the business might face negative consequences. The understanding of how sustainability reporting is disclosed

EMC Modelling of IGBT-Based Voltage Source Converters: High-Frequency Behavior, Parasitic Characterization and Simulation Methodology

This thesis investigates model-based electromagnetic comparability (EMC) of an IGBT-based two-level voltage source converter (VSC). The main focus lies on common-mode and differential-mode behaviour through conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI). The study centres around the Active Dynamic Filter P25 developed by Comsys AB, which serves as the converter under test (CUT). Conducted emissions

Training for Uncertainty: Using games to improve disaster risk management skills

The importance of Disaster Risk Management (DRM) is growing as global risks increase and more actors implement DRM strategies. However, the unpredictable and complex nature of disasters and other risks makes it difficult to train DRM skills in advance. Serious games, which are games designed for educational purposes, offer a promising way to build these skills by simulating real-world challenges i

Filters, Feeds, and Femininity: A Comparative Study of Beauty Engagement on TikTok and Instagram

Background: The beauty industry has transitioned away from traditional marketing and toward interactive, social media-driven techniques, with firms engaging customers with influencers and user-generated content on platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. While most studies focus on advertisements and influencers, little is known about how average users, particularly young women, interact with beaut

Managing risk and security: How humanitarian organisations adapt in conflict zones

Humanitarian aid workers (HAWs) face increasing risks in conflict zones, with 2024 marking the deadliest year on record. International humanitarian organisations (IHOs) must address this trend to continue delivering aid and protecting HAWs. This study investigates how IHOs adapt to the evolving risks in these contexts and explores challenges that adaptation measures may entail. A qualitative resea

Warm streets, cool leaves? Exploring vegetation phenology with daily heating patterns: Brussels 2022

Denna studie analyserar sambandet mellan Plant Phenology Index (PPI) och markytetemperatur (Land Surface Temperature, LST) i Bryssel under år 2022, Urban vegetation is a key strategy for climate adaptation in increasingly dense and warming cities. While some studies look at urban seasonal trends in plant phenology, fewer look at continuous dynamic phenology measures. This study investigates the relationship between the Plant Phenology Index (PPI) and Land Surface Temperature (LST) across Brussels in 2022, using satellites Sentinel-2-derived P

Spatio-temporal vegetation changes in the Pacific-Chocó region of Colombia during the conflict and post-conflict periods

In 2016, after decades of armed conflict, the Colombian government signed a peace agreement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People's Army (FARC - EP).
