The Development Path of an Academic Co-working Space on Campus - Case Energy Garage

Over the past few years, shared spaces for students, entrepreneurs and faculty have become popular on university campuses. This study aims at increasing understanding on how a new co-working space is developed on campus, and what the different stakeholders’ roles are in the development process. Shape analysis techniques for the Ayia Irini case study

The typical approach for archaeological analysis is mainly qualitative and, as such, subjective. Even when some measures are reported in the documentation of artefacts, they are often approximate or ambiguous. Conversely, the quantitative approach is based on objective metrics to produce replicable results and, coupled with digital tools, can assist the qualitative analysis in archaeological resea

In our view, the underlying reason is the lack of collective action involving various organizations in the design process. Collective action for the good of the whole ecosystem does not take place in existing participatory practi

Sediment transport and bathymetric change at Hornafjörður tidal inlet : Field data analysis and mathematical modeling

Commercial fishing makes the coastal inlet in Hornafjörður to an important navigational link for the port of Höfn in southeast Iceland. Low water depth caused through sediment accumulation along the ebb shoal generates navigational problems and the phenomenon of glacial rebound seems to intensify this problem. Economic losses caused by the inability of fishing boats to navigate through the coastal

An Empirical Inquiry on the Effect of Cleaner Local Energy Production on Consumer Carbon Footprint

This study analyzes the effect of cleaner local energy production on the consumer carbon footprint. The results in consumption based carbon footprint assessments have traditionally indicated that a significant change in consumption patterns or lifestyles would be needed to achieve the often aspired, ambitious 50- 80% cutoffs in the carbon emissions on a community level. However, it is also known t

A consumption based LCA tool for housing management

The housing sector accounts for roughly 30% of the total annual energy consumption in the developed nations.

The refugee crisis of 2015 forced Sweden and its citizens to face a politically and morally difficult question. Modeling shoreline response and inlet shoal volume development on long Island Coast, United States

A new numerical model was developed to simulate regional sediment transport, shoreline response in the vicinity of tidal inlets, and inlet shoal volume growth based on the one-line model of shoreline change combined with the reservoir concept for volumetric evolution of inlet shoals. Sand bypassing onshore and sheltering effects on wave action from the inlet bar and shoals were taken into account.
