Contrasting vulnerability reduction measures for critical infrastructures: using power system and regional inoperability input-output models
Critical infrastructures provide society with services that are essential for its functioning and extensive disruptions of these give rise to large societal consequences. Vulnerability analysis gives important decision information concerning improving their ability to withstand strains. To analyze vulnerabilities in infrastructures models for estimating consequences due to failures are needed. Con
Pay-What-You-Want Pricing Schemes: A Self-Image Perspective
Pay-What-You-Want (PWYW) pricing schemes are becoming increasingly popular in a wide range of industries. We develop a model incorporating self-image into the buyer's utility function and introduce heterogeneity in consumption utility and image-sensitivity, which generates different purchase decisions and optimal prices across individuals. When a good is sold at a fixed price higher than a thresho

Interaction between the labile binding site of human C4 and methylamine
Human complement component C4 was irreversibly inactivated by low concentrations of methylamine at slightly alkaline pH. The inactivated C4 molecules lost the ability to bind to EAC1 cells but retained th capacity to participate in the formation of classical pathway C3 convertase in the fluid phase. 14C-methylamine was incorporated into the alpha-chain at a ratio of 1 mol methylamine per mol C4.

Interactive Tool for Analysis of Time-Delay Dystems with Dead-Time Compensation
This paper presents an interactive tool which allows to study the problem of systems with delays. The developed tool provides several examples in order to compare PI control and Smith Predictor approaches for processes with delay. Robustness problems due to presence of model uncertainties can also be studied, as well as other control structures to face the different problems that the original Smit

Pilot-scale investigation of Pt/alumina catalysts deactivation by organosilicon in the total oxidation of hydrocarbons
The deactivation of alumina-supported platinum catalyst for VOC oxidation by long-term exposure for hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDS) has been investigated in a pilot scale reactor for up to 1000 h of exposure. Catalyst samples were characterized by ICP-AES, BET and silicon deposition by SEM. Catalyst activity was investigated using oxidation of ethyl acetate showing deactivation of the catalyst samples
