1. Hepatectomized rats were injected intravenously with doubly labelled ([14C]linoleic acid and [3H]palmitic acid) thoracic duct lymphs from rats fed cream, triolein or corn oil. The disappearance of the radioactive fatty acids of different molecular triacylglycerol species and of phospholipids from plasma was studied.2. 73–93% of the injected triacylglycerols had been cleared from plasma within 1

From the Scandinavian Sarcoma Group Register, information on 1,224 surgically-treated patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS) of the extremity or trunk wall, diagnosed between 1987 and 1995, was collected. 205 patients, one third of whom were referred to a center with a local recurrence, had a total of 284 local recurrences. This analysis describes the treatment for these local recurrences, compli

We report the outcome in 32 patients operated on for advanced periacetabular metastatic destruction, where all but 2 had Harrington class III destruction. The patients were operated on using the Harrington reconstruction technique, where threaded pins and cement and a total hip replacement are used to reconstruct the acetabulum and ilium. The median survival was 11 (0-106+) months. 13 patients liv

We analyzed treatment and outcome in 104 Scandinavian patients with synovial sarcoma in the extremities or trunk wall, diagnosed between 1986 and 1994. Only surgically treated patients without metastases at diagnosis were included. Median follow-up of survivors was 6 (3-11) years. 34 patients developed metastases. The overall 5- and 7-year survival rates were 0.76 (95% Cl 0.66-0.83) and 0.69 (0.58

Aneurysmal bone cyst (ABC) is a benign bone lesion for which no previous cytogenetic data exist. We describe the finding of clonal chromosome aberrations in three tumors; two had a t(16;17)(q22;p13) as the sole anomaly, and the third had a del(16)(q22) as the only change. These findings show that somatic mutations contribute to the development of ABC and furthermore indicate that bands 16q22 and 1

The local and systemic invasiveness of soft-tissue sarcomas may depend upon an interaction between the primary tumour and the extracellular matrix in which the proteolytic enzyme, urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA), may have an important role. We analyzed the expression of uPA in soft-tissue sarcoma using a luminescent immunoassay technique; and examined the relationships between different uPA
