Effect of an intervention addressing working technique on the biomechanical load of the neck and shoulders among hairdressers

The purpose of this study was to describe, and analyse the effect of an intervention on, the biomechanical workload in the neck and shoulder region of female hairdressers. Arm elevation was measured by inclinometers and muscular load of m. trapezius by electromyography. The intervention comprised working technique recommendations, e.g. to work with less elevated arms and more relaxed muscles. The

Hydrogen, an Energy Carrier of the Future

The climate is changing, something that many scientists correlate to increased emissions of greenhouse gases. The effluent that is considered to have the highest impact on global warming is carbon dioxide, when effect and quantity are taken into account. Most projections however, show that the effect is reversible if the amount of carbon dioxide emissions discharged to the atmosphere is decreased.

Triaxial shape induced by couplings between equatorial orbitals

The observed signature splitting at high spin in the odd-odd isotopes Pr126-132 and its description in cranking calculations suggest that Pr-126 (Z=59,N=67) is triaxially deformed at intermediate values. The triaxial shape is explained as caused by specific couplings between the orbitals. These couplings are active for N=67 but not for N=69.

Ecological effects of pesticides in freshwater model ecosystems

De kan driIn this thesis I have investigated the effects of pesticide exposure on the ecosystem level using various types of experimental ecosystems, i.e. microcosms. The direct effect of exposure to cyperemthrin, a pyretroid insecticide, was a rapid decrease of crustancean zooplankton in enclosures in a lake. In the exposed enclosures the biomass of algae, heterotrophic nanoflagellates, ciliates and bacter

ISA 95 - how and where can it be applied?

Many of you have certainly heard about the ISA 95 standard, and you know that it treats the subject of how Enterprise systems should be integrated with manufacturing and control systems, but do you know how and where it can be applied?Almost anyone, in some way connected to the control, automation and manufacturing operations field can benefit from knowing its content; vendors, end-users as well a

Music and Brain Plasticity

Complex and widespread activation in many brain areas is seen while performing, listening or mentally imaging music, activity that varies with training, previous exposure, personal preference, emotional involvement and many other factors. Playing a musical instrument demands extensive motor and cognitive abilities, and early musical learning results in plastic reorganization of the developing brai

The Role of the Disciples in the Prophetic Mission of Jesus

This article discusses what it meant for Jesus’ disciples to be disciples of a prophet and, consequently, what the presence of such prophet-disciples can tell us about his mission. This is done by situating the Gospel material about Jesus’ disciples in the context of early Jewish conceptions of prophetic discipleship, ultimately based on the Old Testament narratives about ancient Israelite prophet
