Some Integral Formulas for Fatigue Damage in Variable Amplitude Loading
In this paper some integral formulas for the fatigue damage in variable amplitude loading are presented. The formulas, which in their original form appeared in Rychlik (1993), may be used for both the theoretical analysis of the fatigue damage, resulting from different cycle counting algorithms, as well as for the computation of different statistical properties of the fatigue damage.

Mechanisms by which common variants in the TCF7L2 gene increase risk of type 2 diabetes.
Genetic variants in the gene encoding for transcription factor-7-like 2 (TCF7L2) have been associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and impaired beta cell function, but the mechanisms have remained unknown. We therefore studied prospectively the ability of common variants in TCF7L2 to predict future T2D and explored the mechanisms by which they would do this. Scandinavian subjects followed for up to

Random graph models with hidden color
We demonstrate how to generalize two of the most well-known random graph models, the classic random graph, and random graphs with a given degree distribution, by the introduction of hidden variables in the form of extra degrees of freedom, color, applied to vertices or stubs (half-edges). The color is assumed unobservable, but is allowed to affect edge probabilities. This serves as a convenient me

Refactoring-aware versioning in Eclipse
To fully support refactorings in a team development environment we have implemented a refactoring-aware repository provider as an extension plug-in to the Java Development Tools in Eclipse. The versioning system treats refactorings as first-class changes described as semantic ac- tions rather than the set of resulting changes scattered over the source tree. We also introduce refactoring-aware merg
Differential usage of IκBα and IκBβ in regulation of apoptosis versus gene expression
n this study we use the N-substituted benzamides declopramide (3-CPA) and N-acetyl declopramide (Na-3-CPA) to investigate the involvement of the transcription factor NF-κB in the induction of apoptosis and surface immunoglobulin κ (Igκ) expression in the mouse pre-B cell line 70Z/3. We first showed that 3-CPA-induced apoptosis at doses around 500 μM and that the 3-CPA-induced apoptosis could be su

Heptemerones A-G, seven novel diterpenoids from Coprinus heptemerus: Producing organism, fermentation, isolation and biological activities
Seven novel diterpenoids, named heptemerones A-G, were isolated from the broth of submerged cultures of Coprinus heptemerus, a basidiomycete which previously had not been known to produce secondary metabolites. The compounds were purified by solid phase extraction and silica gel chromatography followed by preparative HPLC. Among the biological activities the inhibition of fungal germination was th

DNA copy number amplifications in sarcomas with homogeneously staining regions and double minutes
To identify DNA amplifications in sarcomas, comparative genomic hybridization was performed on 27 cases that were likely to display high-level DNA copy number gains. In all cases, chromosome banding analysis had revealed homogeneously staining regions or double minutes, i.e., cytogenetic signs of gene amplification. In most cases, gains predominated over losses. Low-level amplifications (ratio 1.3
During the 1920s, when the Swedish defence was under heavy debate, military and conservative forces on the right tried to turn the Swedish public opinion towards a climate more in favour of the defence by producing a big budget war film – Karl XII. In several senses the film became a great success. In Sweden the attendance figures were as high as one million (of a population of six) and the film w

Multicentre evaluation of IL Test (TM) Free PS: A fully automated assay to quantify Free Protein S
Deficiency of the anticoagulant vitamin K-dependent protein S (PS) is associated with increased risk of venous thrombosis. In human plasma, PS circulates in two forms: as free protein (free PS) and PS bound to C4b-binding protein (C4BP), a regulator of the complement system. Assays for free PS have higher sensitivity and specificity for protein S deficiency than assays for total protein S. We have
Trains of attosecond electron wave packets
We study temporally localized electron wave packets, generated using a train of extreme ultraviolet (XUV) attosecond pulses to ionize the target atoms. Both the electron wave packets and the attosecond pulse train ( APT) are characterized using the same technique, based on interference of two-photon transitions in the continuum. We study, in particular, the energy transfer from a moderately strong
