Behandling av patienter med hud- och mjukdelsinfektioner. Resultat av STRAMAs diagnos- och receptundersokning bland allmanlakare
n one week of November 2000 and 2002, a diagnosis-antibiotic prescribing study was performed in general practice in 5 counties in Sweden. In total 11 515 patients were registered with a diagnosis of an infectious disease. Skin- and soft tissue infections were responsible for 10% of the visits and 13% of the antibioitc prescriptions. Older people (> 65 years) had more skin- and soft tissue infectio
REGULATED UPTAKE OF BIOPOLYMERS Role of cell surface proteoglycans Implications for drug and gene delivery
Cells continuously export, import, and recycle molecules over the plasma membrane. Internalization, i.e. cellular import of extracellular material, is a fundamental process, which provides cells with nutrients and enables the immune cells of higher organisms to remove debris, sample their surroundings for antigens and to fight microbes. Moreover, internalization regulates complex cellular signalli

A comprehensive standardized model for ultrawideband propagation channels
A comprehensive statistical model is described for ultrawideband (UWB) propagation channels that is valid for a frequency range from 3-10 GHz. It is based on measurements and simulations in the following environments: residential indoor, office indoor, builtup outdoor, industrial indoor, farm environments, and body area networks. The model is independent of the used antennas. It includes the frequ
Basic Tendencies of Adjectival Accentological Development in Contemporary Russian
The present doctoral thesis is a study of the problem of "variation" in relation to word-stress in Russian adjectives, in both their short and long forms. The stress variation in adjectival forms is investigated from various viewpoints, the main of which is the revelation of the basic processes of stress reorganisation in these groups of words and the establishment of main tendencies of adjectival
Rekommendationer från Svenska kvalitetskommittén för karotiskirurgi. Ultraljud bra preoperativ metod för gradering av karotisstenos
The estimated degree of carotid stenosis is decisive for the selection of patients who would benefit from surgical treatment. Carotid thrombendarterectomy is recommended in patients with symptomatic > or = 80 procent internal carotid artery stenosis (ECST method). Many vascular centers now often rely entirely on duplex ultrasonography to select the patients for carotid surgery. The results of a re
Multifocal electroretinogram in branch retinal vein occlusion.
PURPOSE: To describe the response from multifocal electroretinography in branch retinal vein occlusion. DESIGN: Prospective observational case control series. METHODS: Multifocal electroretinography was recorded in 15 patients with temporal branch retinal vein occlusion and 21 control subjects using a visual evoked response imaging system. RESULTS: There were significant differences in mean amplit
Energy dependent boundary conditions and few-body scattering problem
An exactly solvable problem with energy dependent interaction is investigated in the present paper. The selfadjoint model operator describes the scattering problem for three one-dimensional particles. It is shown that this problem is equivalent to the diffraction problem in the sector with energy dependent boundary conditions. The problem is solved with the help of the Sommerfeld-Maluzhinetz repre
Social support provides motivation and ability to participate in occupation
In this study, a qualitative perspective of how 13 women (aged 25 to 61 years) with spinal cord injury perceive the importance of social support for their participation in occupation is presented. The data were collected through repeated in-depth interviews and field notes, and the analysis used a grounded theory approach. The women needed both emotional and practical support, which was important
Master's Theses in Automatic Control 1978-1979
This report contains abstracts of master theses (examensarbete) made at the Department of Automatic Control, Lund, during the academic year 78/79. During this year 9 theses were made by 12 students. The theses are written in Swedish with an English abstract.
Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the human gene for osteoprotegerin are not related to bone mineral density or fracture in elderly women
Osteoprotegerin (OPG), a secreted member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family, is a potent inhibitor of osteoclast activation and differentiation. In animal models OPG prevents bone loss, and in humans bone resorption can be reduced by injections of OPG. OPG may also play a role in cardiovascular disease since mice lacking the OPG gene display arterial calcification. In a screening effort
Masonhalea, a new lichen genus in the Parmeliaceae.
The new genus Masionhalea is segregated from Cetraria s. lat. on the basis of anatomy, morphology, ecology and chemistry. Its only species, M. richardsonii (Hook. in Richardson) Kärnef. is described and illustrated and a distribution map is provided.

A simulation of solar convection at supergranulation scale
We present here numerical simulations of surface solar convection which cover a box of 30 x 30 x 3.2 Mm(3) with a resolution of 315 x 315 x 82, which is used to investigate the dynamics of scales larger than granulation. No structure resembling supergranulation is present; possibly higher Reynolds numbers (i.e. higher numerical resolution), or magnetic fields, or greater depth are necessary. The r

Transgenerational priming of immunity: maternal exposure to a bacterial antigen enhances offspring humoral immunity
Young vertebrates have limited capacity to synthesize antibodies and are dependent on the protection of maternally transmitted antibodies for humoral disease resistance early in life. However, mothers may enhance fitness by priming their offspring's immune systems to elevate disease resistance. Transgenerational induced defences have been documented in plants and invertebrates, but maternal primin
