Added diagnostic utility of CT perfusion and CT angiography in acute ischemic stroke. Evaluation of three different patient categories
Patients with a clinical picture of acute ischemic stroke are a heterogeneous group. The aim of this study was to evaluate the added utility of CT perfusion (CTP) and CT angiography (CTA) in the workup of three different categories of acute ischemic stroke patients. Fifty patients (61 +/- 05 years old) were included in this retrospective analysis. Twenty-nine patients had transient ischemic attack
A sequential method to identify underlying causes from industrial accidents reported to the MARS database
This paper presents a method designed to identify underlying causes leading to industrial accidents. The method developed intends to facilitate the learning process from accidents by identifying possible causes related to the accidents that were not directly stated in an accident report, but that can be deduced following the description of the event, in particular with regard to the quality of the
Sustainable development in general and urban context: A literature review
This report is a literature review about sustainability and sustainable development in general and in an urban context. It focuses on theoretical issues and debates in scientific literature and aims at analyzing the different dimension of sustainability, namely social, ecological and economic sustainability. There are different conflicts between those dimensions of sustainability. Furthermore, the
Genreteoretiska fundamenta
Todorov´s distinction between theoretical genres and historical genres are logically analyzed, the first being classes, the second cultural, social facts. The theoretical genres cannot, according to Todorov, be falsified or verified. This is on account of the rule saying that the language of object and the metalanguage must not be mixed. But this mixing is always present in ordinary language, in l
Self-efficacy and strategies to influence the study environment.
This study investigates the relationship between student influence and academic self-efficacy in a sample of 275 students in two Master’s programmes in Engineering. Students in only one of the programmes studied according to problem-based learning (PBL). Results indicate that students choosing strategies to influence course content or structure, through course evaluation and recommending changes t

Homogeneous large-area graphene layer growth on 6h-SiC(001)
Homogeneous large-area graphene monolayers were successfully prepared ex situ on 6H-SiC(0001). The samples have been studied systematically and the results are compared with those from a sample cut from the same wafer and prepared by in situ heating. The formation of smaller graphene flakes was found on the in situ prepared sample, which is in line with earlier observations. Distinctly different r
Reduced risk of prostate cancer in infertile men compared to men with proven fertility: A nested case-control study
Grain-128a: a new version of Grain-128 with optional authentication
A new version of the stream cipher Grain-128 is proposed. The new version, Grain-128a, is strengthened against all known attacks and observations on the original Grain-128, and has built-in support for optional authentication. The changes are modest, keeping the basic structure of Grain-128. This gives a high confidence in Grain-128a and allows for easy updating of existing implementations.
Intracerebral Infections as a Complication of Deep Brain Stimulation
Background: Intracerebral infections after deep brain stimulation (DBS) are rare. The published material is limited to 2 case reports. A review of 20 publications of 3,818 patients focusing on complications of DBS did not reveal one single case. For that reason, we decided to present our own experience of 4 patients with this complication. Objectives: To analyze and present our material regarding
Medical services of a mulicultural summer camp event: experiences from the 22nd World Scout Jamboree, Sweden 2011
Background: Prevention and treatment of medical issues are the main task of a health service at a youth camp. However, only few reports about organisation and implementation of camp health care are available. This makes it difficult for future camp directors to plan and estimate the health care needed for a certain camp size. We summarize the experience in planning and running health care for the
Finding a heaviest vertex-weighted triangle is not harder than matrix multiplication
We show that a maximum-weight triangle in an undirected graph with n vertices and real weights assigned to vertices can be found in time O(n(omega) + n(2+o(1))), where omega is the exponent of the fastest matrix multiplication algorithm. By the currently best bound on omega, the running time of our algorithm is O(n(2.376)). Our algorithm substantially improves the previous time-bounds for this pro
Measurement with the ATLAS detector of multi-particle azimuthal correlations in p plus Pb collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV
In order to study further the long-range correlations ("ridge") observed recently in p + Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV, the second-order azimuthal anisotropy parameter of charged particles, v(2), has been measured with the cumulant method using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. In a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 1 mu b(-1), the parameter v(2) has been
Work Absence - A Signalling Factor for Temporary Workers?
This paper investigates whether low levels of absence increase the probability of permanent employment and reduce that of unemployment for Swedish temporary workers. We investigate two reasons for absence: worker sickness and sickness of a dependent child. Using a competing risk estimation model, we find that sick leave reduces the probability of permanent employment for women and increases the pr
Phylogenetic generic classification of parmelioid lichens (Parmeliaceae,Ascomycota) based on molecular, morphological and chemical evidence.
Parmelioid lichens are a diverse and ubiquitous group of foliose lichens. Generic delimitation in parmelioid lichens has been in a state of flux since the late 1960s with the segregation of the large, heterogeneous genus Parmelia into numerous smaller genera. Recent molecular phylogenetic studies have demonstrated that some of these new genera were monophyletic, some were not, and others, previous
Evaluation of the prognostic significance of MSMB and CRISP3 in prostate cancer using automated image analysis.
Despite prostate cancer being the most frequent cancer in men in the Western world, tissue biomarkers for predicting disease recurrence after surgery have not been incorporated into clinical practice. Our group has previously identified β-microseminoprotein (MSMB) and cysteine-rich secretory protein-3 (CRISP3) as independent predictors of biochemical recurrence after radical prostatectomy. The pur
Potentials for prosperity without growth: Ecological sustainability, social inclusion and the quality of life in 38 countries
Recent contributions to ecological economics and related social sciences indicate that issues such as climate change, resource depletion and environmental degradation cannot be effectively addressed under conditions of continued economic growth. This paper aims at empirically identifying structural potentials and policy challenges for prosperity at scaleswhere economic development remainswithin ec
