I am a PhD candidate in comparative literature since September 2023.

In my research project, I suggest the term 'Dark Girlhood' (Det mörka flickskapet) to capture the elusive yet highly physical unease that characterizes Mare Kandre's, Inger Edelfeldt's, and Åsa Nelvin's works about girlhood. My research explores how the theme of dark girlhood is constructed literarily through subthemes, motifs, and imagery. Additionally, it examines how feminist and philosophical concepts can be used to understand the fleeting nature of darkness as an oscillation between the particular vulnerability of girlhood and a sense of unease that is not primarily related to gender.
