I am a Professor in Language Education at the Centre for Languages and Literature.

My research involves the psychology of language learning and language teaching. I am interested in motivation, language learners’ communication behaviors, language teachers’ motivational practices and teacher identity development. I have a particular interest in multilingualism, and have investigated motivation in relation to English, Modern Languages, and Swedish as a Second Language.

I have been the principal investigator for three projects financed by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet).

Motivational teaching in Swedish Secondary English (MoTiSSE), 2014–2018 (7 400 000 SEK)

Migration, Host-country language learning, and the influence of global English, 2019–2022 (4 400 000 SEK).

Progress in Language Learning (PILL), 2025–2028 (4 500 000 SEK)

I am a co-PI for the project Motivation in Modern Languages (MoMS) (SkolFi, 4 400 000 SEK) and a project leader in the RJ-program TEAM (25 800 000 SEK)
