Course
Course 15 credits • YIDD12
Do you want to take your Yiddish skills to the next level? In this course, you will deepen your knowledge of morphology, syntax, and vocabulary. Through exercises in reading and listening comprehension, as well as oral and written expression, you will develop your language proficiency.
This course is the second of two introductory courses in Yiddish. You will deepen your knowledge, learn how the language is structured, and expand your vocabulary. By reading literary and journalistic materials, you will practice understanding and translating texts into Swedish or English. You will also practice speaking Yiddish fluently about both everyday topics and subjects of cultural relevance, as well as writing with correct grammar. The course gives you tools to analyse language from different perspectives, such as gender, cultural encounters, and diversity. The goal is for you to feel more confident using Yiddish both in speaking and writing..
