This part-time course provides an overview of Swedish film history – from the silent era to contemporary cinema. The course is ideal for anyone who wants to understand the role of film in society and develop the tools to analyse moving images using film studies concepts.
In Swedish Film, you will explore the development of Swedish cinema from its origins to the present day. You’ll study various types of film – including documentary, artistic, and popular genres – and learn how production, distribution and exhibition have evolved over time. The course introduces key concepts in film studies and analytical approaches to film as a cultural and societal expression. It is taught in English and requires no prior academic experience in the subject.
