Bio Karl Kainer studied Materials Science at the University of Applied Science Osnabrueck and at the Clausthal University of Technology. He obtained his Ph.D degree in Materials Science at the same university in 1985 and his Habilitation in 1996 on Magnesium Matrix Composites. From 1985 to 1999 he was Senior Scientist and Head of the Light Metal and P/M Group at the Institute for Materials Science
