Transient modelling of a HC-SCR catalyst for diesel exhaust aftertreatment
The kinetics of a catalyst for hydrocarbon-selective catalytic reduction (HC-SCR) exhaust aftertreatment has been examined by means of transient experiments on a heavy-duty diesel engine rig. The influences of temperature, NO2 concentration, and the transient injection of hydrocarbon on the conversion of NO,, CO, and hydrocarbon were studied in a systematic manner. Hydrocarbon conversion was high

ANPAC - Analysis and Synthesis of Continuous Time Systems
A Treatise on the Unity and Trinity of God by Israel of Kashkar (d. 872). Introduction, edition and word index
The present work is a contribution to the study of Christian Arabic literature. An apologetic treatise on the unity and trinity of God incorrectly attributed to Yahya ibn Adi (d. 974) is edited for the very first time and provided with a comprehensive word index. The edition is based on six manuscripts found in Egypt. Four of these manuscripts have so far not been known to scholarly research. The
Alamethicin permeabilizes the plasma membrane and mitochondria but not the tonoplast in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv Bright Yellow) suspension cells
The ion channel-forming peptide AlaM (alamethicin) is known to permeabilize isolated mitochondria as well as animal cells. When intact tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) Bright Yellow-2 cells were treated with AlaM, the cells became permeable for low-molecular-mass molecules as shown by induced leakage of NAD(P)(+). After the addition of cofactors and substrates, activities of cytosolic as well as mit

Antenna signal correlation and its relation to the impedance matrix
Theory is presented that extends the analysis to signal correlation between any antennas in an array of elements. It is generalised to include non-identical elements and arbitrary load termination of passive antenna ports. The method is related to the power balance concept and based on the antenna impedance matrix.
The changing structure and tree composition in the traditionally grazed forests in the parish of Stenbrohult, southern Sweden
The formerly grazed forest (utmark) was the dominant land use on most farms in southern Sweden until about 100 years ago. Here I describe the changed structure and tree species composition over time of the utmark on three farms owned by the church in the central part of Stenbrohult. In this area Carl Linnaeus spent his first 20 summers until 1728. The study is based on old forest management plans,
Spectroscopic studies of aqueous gallium(III) and aluminum(III) citrate complexes
Aqueous gallium(III) citrate complexes have been studied in the 10(-2) M concentration range with extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) and FTIR techniques. From EXAFS data, one mononuclear and one oligomeric species were identified at different Ga(III) to citrate ratios. The first shell of the mononuclear complex was found to be distorted, with average Ga-O bond lengths of 1.95 and 2.0
Effects of vaginally delivered estrogens
INTRODUCTION: Atrophic condition in the vagina and lower parts of the urethral tract are common in elderly women. From population based surveys it has been estimated that 40% or more of women over 60 complain of insufficient control of micturation. In addition, lower urinary tract infections are common in this age group and recurrent cystitis is a scourge for many women (1, 2). Vaginal problems su
Multi-plume aerosol dynamics and transport model for urban scale particle pollution
The Multi-plume Aerosol dynamics and Transport (MAT) model has been developed to study the dynamics of the particle size distribution in urban environments. The MAT model uses a novel multi-plume scheme for vertical dispersion and routines of the aerodynamics models AERO3. It treats the processes: emission from a near ground source, dilution with background air, deposition, coagulation and condens
A conjecture of L. Carleson and applications
Let $T_\alpha$ be the class of functions meromorphic in the unit disk ${\bf D}$ such that $$\int_D{|f'(z)|^2\over (1+|f(z)|^2)^2}(1-|z|)^{1-\alpha}dx\,dy<\infty,\quad 0\leq\alpha<1.$$ It is known that $T_\alpha\subset N$, where $N$ denotes the Nevanlinna class of functions meromorphic in $\bold D$ and of bounded characteristic. Because every $f\in N$ is a quotient of two bounded functions, analy

Some known elementwise methods of PAA calibration are considered, without use of phase meas-urement apparatus. Features of these methods are described for the case of multi-channel phased array antennas (several hundreds or thousands of channels). Calibration algorithm is suggested for this case, it consists of antenna channels grouping, in-group channel calibration and, finally, mutual calibratio
Calculation and measurements of absorbed dose in total body irradiation
A method which is simple, reliable, and rapid to use in clinical routine for basic dose calculation in total body irradiation (TBI) has been tested with 8 MV x-rays. The dosimetry follows, as far as possible, national and international recommendations for conventional radiotherapy. The dose rate at different locations and depths is calculated from the absorbed dose rate at dose maximum for a phant
Superdeformed band at very high spin in Nd-140
A new high-spin superdeformed band has been discovered in Nd-140(60)80. It was populated in the Zr-96(Ca-48,4n) reaction and investigated using the EUROBALL gamma-ray spectrometer array. The band is observed in the approximate spin range of I=36 to 66. It is associated with shell gaps around Z=60 and at N=80 at large deformation. These gaps produce a pronounced minimum in the calculated total Rout

Microbial desulfurization of different coal types
This chapter discusses different coals compared with respect to the extent of sulfur removal and jarosite formation when processed with A. brierleyi. All coals are of low-sulfur type with a sulfur content ranging from 0.6 % through 1.8 %. The efficiency of the microbial processing of coal depends on three factors––namely, the rate of sulfur removal, the extent of sulfur removal, and the formation
