As a doctoral student in Film Studies, I investigate the rental video store as a cultural-historical site. Part of my dissertation consists of a macro-historical mapping of rental video stores in Sweden. The macro-historical foundation informs the main part of the dissertation: an analysis of micro-historical material (interviews, news stories, etc.) with a focus on describing the function and more importantly the experience of renting films in a video store. These experiences are related to the experience of film in general.

My study can be placed within that branch of film history called New Cinema History; in particular through its ethnological methods on film historiography.

I did my MA in Film- and Media History at Lund University, as well as a BA in Film Studies and a BA in Comparative Literature.
