Do you want to do cutting-edge research in phonetics? No topic within phonetics is as hot right now as prosody, thanks to advances in technology, methods, and phonological theory. If you take this course, you won't just come up to speed with current research in prosody, you'll produce it yourself!
This course is a deep dive into theoretical and empirical approaches within prosodic phonology, as well as those areas within prosody where cutting-edge research is ongoing. Special attention is given to the structure and application of theoretical frameworks, prosody's functions and interface with syntax and pragmatics, methods in documentation and experimental studies of prosody, as well as linguistic typology from a prosodic perspective.

Eligibility:
To be admitted to the course, students must have obtained 90 credits of which 7.5 credits from the course LINC11, Linguistics: The acoustics, perception and prosody of speech and 7.5 credits in Linguistics: Perspectives on segmental and prosodic phonology or FONM10 Phonetics: Prosody, and at least 52.5 credits from a language or linguistics (general linguistics or phonetics) subject, or the equivalent, and English 6/English B from Swedish upper secondary school.
