Do you want to do cutting-edge research in phonetics? No topic is as hot right now as prosody, thanks to advances in technology, methods, and phonological theory. If you take this course, you won't just come up to speed with current research in prosody, you'll produce it yourself!
This course is a deep dive into theoretical and empirical approaches within prosodic phonology, as well as discussion of those areas within prosody where research is ongoing. Special attention is given to the structure and application of theoretical frameworks, prosody's function and interface with syntax and pragmatics, methods in documentation and experimental studies of prosody, as well as linguistic typology from a prosodic perspective.
