Various parameters in dynamic load models were determined from the normal operation data. Steady state load-voltage dependence, transient load-voltage dependence and a load recovery time constant parameters were chosen for the study. It was observed that large variability in voltage was due to high diversity of load processes. It was also observed that transient reactive load-voltage dependence wa

A 10-day-old boy with pulmonary atresia received a right-sided aortopulmonary polytetrafluoroethylene shunt. Three days after the operation he became cyanotic and was reintubated. Shunt occlusion was confirmed with angiography. Recombinant tissue plasminogen activator was given locally into the proximal end of the shunt. The thrombus was completely resolved after 2 days. When administration of rec

The existing thermionic RF-gun (tungsten-BaO cathode) at the MAX-lab linac injector has been adapted for photo cathode operation. Important parameters of this system for free electron laser experiments, like emittance and charge, were measured giving 5.5 mmmrad at 70 pC (see below). A more detailed report on that setup, including laser and electron optics is given.

The neutron beam at the Studsvik facility for boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) and the validation of the related computational model developed for the MCNP-4B Monte Carlo code are presented. Several measurements performed at the epithermal neutron port used for clinical trials have been made in order to validate the Monte Carlo computational model. The good general agreement between the MCNP c

We present the results of 3D high-resolution calculations of the last inspiral stages and the final coalescence of neutron star binary systems. The equations of hydrodynamics are solved using the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method with up to 106 particles. Using Newtonian gravity, but adding the forces emerging from the emission of gravitational waves, we focus on the impact of microphysics on

OBJECTIVE:: The aim of the trial was to compare laparoscopic technique with open technique regarding short-term pain, quality of life (QoL), recovery, and complications. BACKGROUND:: Laparoscopic and open techniques for incisional hernia repair are recognized treatment options with pros and cons. METHODS:: Patients from 7 centers with a midline incisional hernia of a maximum width of 10 cm were ra

Objectives This study sought to determine the mechanistic effects of a novel balloon-based lithoplasty system on heavily calcified coronary lesions and subsequent stent placement using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Background The Shockwave Coronary Rx Lithoplasty System (Shockwave Medical, Fremont, California) delivers localized, lithotripsy-enhanced disruption of calcium within the target l

In the present study, the operation performance of an ultralow-temperature cascade refrigeration freezer is experimentally researched. The natural refrigerants R290-R170 are adopted as high-temperature and low-temperature fluids. The experimental test is conducted in a type laboratory with a dry bulb temperature of 32.0 °C and a wet bulb temperature of 26.5 °C. Different state monitors are set to

This paper aims to review the development of wastewater treatment operation and control over the last two decades. Due to the authors' background and experiences there is a special emphasis on the Scandinavian perspective. Since the developments in these countries have been in the forefront in the wastewater treatment area we believe that it may give a reasonable view of the progress also in other

The NOx storage and reduction approach was applied on a full-scale engine rig under stationary operation. NOx reduction experiments were performed and a catalyst model developed and tested. The exhaust system was equipped with a bypass system. A NOx reduction of 25-53% was achieved. At low temperature, higher values were reached when the exhaust gas bypass was longer than the injection period.

The test facility and synchrotron light source ANKA at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) operates in the energy range from 0.5 to 2.5 GeV and can generate brilliant coherent synchrotron radiation (CSR) in the THz range employing a dedicated bunch length-reducing optic at 1.3 GeV beam energy. The high degree of spatial compression leads to complex longitudinal dynamics and to time evolvin

Soft tissue artefact (STA) represents one of the main obstacles for obtaining accurate and reliable skeletal kinematics from motion capture. Many studies have addressed this issue, yet there is no consensus on the best available bone pose estimator and the expected errors associated with relevant results. Furthermore, results obtained by different authors are difficult to compare due to the high v
