Introduction: The V beta 12-transgenic mouse was previously generated to investigate the role of antigen-specific T cells in collagen-induced arthritis (CIA), an animal model for rheumatoid arthritis. This mouse expresses a transgenic collagen type II (CII)-specific T-cell receptor (TCR) beta-chain and consequently displays an increased immunity to CII and increased susceptibility to CIA. However,

Stroke policy och kvalitetsregisterforskning
The Swedish Stroke Register (Riksstroke) was founded in 1994. Riksstroke includes registration of acute stroke, with a follow up after 3 months and 1 year. The Stroke policy and quality register research group has several ongoing projects based on data from Riksstroke, and in many studies also using data record linkage to other national registers and data bases. The thesis of Teresa Ullberg expl

Bacterial infections spanning from local wound infections, affecting patients with non-healing leg ulcers, postoperative wounds or burns, to severe infections and sepsis, are significant medical problems. Today's anti-infective treatments do not address the excessive activation of inflammatory pathways during infection and sepsis, and resistance problems are increasing. Hence, there is a huge unm

In this study, the total heatfunction equation which includes diffusion and convection transport is divided into the corresponding heatfunction equations. The superposition rule is used to obtain the mathematical definitions of diffusion and convection heatfunctions and corresponding boundary conditions. It is observed that the separate visualization of diffusion and convection heatlines provides
Regenerativ neurofysiologi
Our research uses advanced technology to generate neurons from novel cell sources with the aim to extensively define the subtype and function of the generated neurons and their potential for therapeutic use in the future. For this we are using reprogramming technology in animal models or human stem cell culture system, together with electrophysiology, RNA sequencing, tracing technologies and cell
BioMS
BioMS is the national infrastructure for biological mass spectrometry (MS). BioMS offers access to qualified projects in proteogenomics, targeted protein quantitation, glycoproteomics, hydrogen-deuterium exchange MS, glycomics, lipidomics, and chemical proteomics. Detailed information and the project application forms can be found at www.bioms.se. BioMS is hosted by Lund University with support fr

Understanding and therapeutic targeting of lysosome-dependent cell death 1. Deciphering the molecular machinery of lysosome-dependent cell death and its interactions with other cell death and survival processes 2. Understanding the role of lysosomes in diseases with altered cell death 3. Therapeutic modulation of lysosome-dependent cell death 4. Development of novel tools and methods for study
Diabetes
This project aims to develop incretin therapy as a glucose-reducing strategy in type 2 diabetes (T2D). Its particular focus is to understand the mechanisms of incretin therapy and to optimize its clinical positioning. This mission is achieved by an interdisciplinary approach with complementary studies in subjects with T2D, healthy volunteers and experimental animals.
Laboratory for Translational Image-Guided Radiotherapy
The laboratory consists of a XenX x-ray irradiator (XStrahl) for experimental radiobiology, with supporting equipment for cell culture applications, such as laminar flow cabinets, CO2 incubators, and a hypoxia workstation. The XenX unit is designed as a radiotherapy machine in miniature. It consists of a 225 kV x-ray source, mounted on a rotatable gantry allowing irradiation of specimens from all

This study evaluates a novel method for extracting roots from soil samples and applies it to estimate standing crop root mass (+/- confidence intervals) in an eastern Amazon rainforest. Roots were manually extracted from soil cores over a period of 40 min, which was split into 10 min time intervals. The pattern of cumulative extraction over time was used to predict root extraction beyond 40 min. A
Centrum för öst- och sydöstasienstudier
The Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies was created in 1997 as the result of a special government initiative. The Centre's task is the encouragement and furtherance of research in Sweden concerning modern East and South-East Asia, including the rapidly changing societies, developing economies and political institutions in the region. Building upon existing strengths at Lund University inThe Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies was created in 1997 as the result of a special government initiative. Currently, the focus of the group’s research has been on the relationship between room acoustics and voice use in teachers. This work, supported by AFA insurance, examines the prevalence and aetiology of voice disorders in teachers in Southern Sweden, applying a blend of techniques: questionnaires, high-speed laryngeal imaging, acoustic and perceptual voice analysis, and field studies of voice useCurrently, the focus of the group’s research has been on the relationship between room acoustics and voice use in teachers.
