Management of oligometastatic anal cancer—a literature review and a proposed treatment algorithm

Oligometastatic squamous-cell carcinoma of the anus (omSCCA) is a very rare condition. The literature is sparse, and treatment guidelines are lacking. The aim of the present work was to carry out a literature review and to propose an algorithm for intensified treatment of patients with omSCCA. A PubMed search was carried out, which resulted in 15 relevant publications that included any type of def

Comparison of potential-energy surfaces and moments of inertia with experimental spectroscopic trends for non-spherical Z = 50-82 nuclei

A broad discussion of the ground-state potential-energy surfaces of doubly even deformed and transitional nuclei with Z = 50-82 is presented. The surfaces are calculated microscopically as functions of the quadrupole axial ε and non-axial γ and the axial hexadecapole ε4 deformations. A correlation between the form of the surfaces and the experimental spectroscopic trends is extensively discussed.

A Registered Report on Place-Based Resentment : Exploring Urban-Rural Tensions in Sweden

This Registered Report examines urban-rural tensions in Sweden - a historically egalitarian, multi-party welfare state with strong geographical equalization schemes, making it a least-likely case for place-based resentment theories. Using an online survey experiment (n = 2,051), we measured resentment through perceptions of in-group and out-group, and by experimentally varying whether political st

Rendering unto Caesar : Receptions of the Bible as a source for secularism

In this article, I identify a key trend for demarcating the “secular” as a Western, Christian achievement. I analyze how the New Testament story often known as “Render unto Caesar” is referenced as a source for the secular West, particularly in writings by European and American conservative thinkers in the 1990s and early 2000s. My argument is that these references to “Render unto Caesar” constitu

Isolated dyslipidemia triggers early kidney injury through fibrotic remodeling, subcellular lipid accumulation, and AMPK overexpression

Dyslipidemia is increasingly recognized as a potential driver of chronic kidney disease, independent of other components of the metabolic syndrome. This study aimed to investigate the direct impact of isolated dyslipidemia on kidney structure and function in dyslipidemic Psammomys obesus (P. obesus). P. obesus animals were fed either a low-energy diet (LED) or high-energy diet (HED) for 12 weeks.

Possible rotational states in odd In nuclei

Levels and transitions in 107In and 109In have been studied in in-beam spectroscopy on the reactions 106Cd(d, nγ)107In and 108Cd(d, nγ)109In. Low-lying 1 2+ and 3 2+ states resembling the possible rotational bands observed in the heavier In isotopes are seen in both nuclei. The potential energy has been calculated for 107-121In with the odd proton in different orbitals, using the Strutinsky normal

Ontological insecurity and the gendered postcolonial subject

Ontological insecurity dominates the narratives of fear and anxiety that are perpetuated by populist and authoritarian regimes today. In these discourses and imaginings, specific ideas of ‘security’ are desired as a return to order or an imagined or idealized past. In this chapter, we focus on how those narratives regularly rely on gendered and colonial framings that are associated with weakness a

Agile Innovation in a Manufacturing Company : How Tetra Pak Evolved Its Product Development Process

OVERVIEW: The article explains how Tetra Pak, a global manufacturing company, revamped its product development process (PDP) by transitioning from the traditional Stage-Gate model to a new innovative process that integrates Agile, Lean, Stage-Gate, the Scaled Agile Framework for enterprises (SAFe), and systems engineering methods. The design and implementation of the PDP at Tetra Pak offers insigh

”Stäng Irans ambassad i Stockholm”

This op-ed urges the Swedish government and the EU to stand decisively with the Iranian people amid nationwide protests driven by economic collapse and decades of repression. The authors argue that the movement reflects a unified demand for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic and growing support for Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as a legitimate, unifying voice for a democratic transition toward a se

Welfare state reform in the age of polycrisis : an introduction

The introduction presents the 27 chapters of the Handbook on Welfare State Reform by international experts, organized in four parts that provide specific theoretical, methodological, policy-related, as well as reform trend-oriented angles. It begins with contributions providing theoretical lenses and policy paradigms central to the study of welfare state reform. The second part offers an overview

Self-Stabilized Heterometallic Pair Sites for Selective Ethanol Dehydrogenation on Pt–Cr–Ag Alloy Catalysts

Self-stabilized, heterometallic pair-sites can enable fine-tuning of catalytic functionality while also mitigating dynamic structural changes that degrade catalytic performance. This study demonstrates the development and characterization of trimetallic PtxCrxAg1-2x (x ≤ 0.1) alloys with active Pt–Cr pair-ensembles for non-oxidative ethanol dehydrogenation, leveraging predictions that favorable bo

The adjustment processes of international students at a UK university : an exploration using the L2 self-regulatory system

Adjusting to life at a foreign university can be challenging. For second/foreign language (L2) students, challenges extend beyond adapting to new academic and social contexts. They can involve the need to reappraise individual aspirations and socially grounded expectations relating to language use. In these and other appraisal processes, self-evaluative standards are employed. In L2 learning, self

Transport Sectors’ Real-World Emissions : From Gaseous Precursors to Secondary Aerosol Formation in Urban Air

Mobility is essential to our modern world to move people and goods. However, mobility has also its downside as transport sectors are substantial emitters of greenhouse gases and air pollutants. Increasingly energy efficient combustion engines and turbines, as well as electrification and carbon-neutral fuels, will reduce the climate impacts of transportation. When such technologies are combined wit
