Effective Models for Dynamically Screened Interactions
This master’s thesis project explores different methods for determining an effective electron-electron interaction strength to model dynamic interactions in the Anderson impurity model, an important model within the field of many-body quantum mechanics. The Anderson model describes an impurity atom which is embedded in a metal, with which in can exchange electrons. In this project, different obser

Entangled disasters : Relations and vulnerabilities in the transformation and dissolution of Kiruna and Malmberget
This chapter discusses the role of placed-based relational entanglements in disasters and argues that relations play an important part in shaping how disasters unfold. Exploring the case of mining induced displacement in Sweden’s Malmfälten region – where two cities, Kiruna and Malmberget, and several villages are being moved or razed to make way for expanding mines – the chapter demonstrates how This chapter explores the role of placed-based relational entanglements in disasters and argues that relations play an important part in shaping how disasters unfold. Avoiding Nightmare Forests : Insights From a Co-Creative Workshop
Since the 1987 UN report “Our Common Future”, aimed at bridging divides among various stakeholders by advocating for “sustainable development”, renewed demands for environmentally adjusted measures have emerged, calling for a future that consolidates socially just, ecologically sound, and economically viable outcomes through sustainable forest management. For Nordic forests, this means policy meas
Tomographic Surface X-ray Diffraction
The atomic structure of catalytic surfaces and its relation to function is important for the understanding and development of industrial catalysts. However, many surface sensitive methods are limited to low-pressure environments, creating a gap between experimental results and reality, and it is not certain that the findings can be applied to the real system. Surface X-ray diffraction is a method
Optical tuning of tissue-mimicking copolymer-in-oil gel for multispectral photoacoustic imaging
Background, Motivation, and ObjectiveThe demand for tissue-mimicking materials (TMMs) is increasing alongside the advancement of hybrid imaging such as photoacoustic imaging (PAI). Developing suitable TMMs for PAI is challenging due to the need to mimic both optical and acoustic tissue properties. The TMMs with tunable properties are needed for the calibration of these imaging modalities, as well
Gender differences in palliative care needs among Swedish cancer patients prior to specialist palliative care referral
Costly avoidance in pediatric anxiety and OCD : The impact of emotional reactivity and reward sensitivity
A central feature of internalizing mental disorders, such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety disorders, is the avoidance of rewarding situations to prevent the risk of experiencing distressing emotions. Previous research has shown that obsessive and anxious individuals avoid situations where rewards come at the cost of aversive experiences, a phenomenon termed costly avoidance. Empowering the Unbanked: How Technology Transforms Microfinance
The aim of this study is to examine the implications of technological advancements on micro- loans and to assess whether these changes have influenced the standard of living for individuals living in extreme poverty. To achieve this, a panel dataset comprising 37 individual data points over a 19-year period is utilized. The analysis is conducted using a Fixed Effects regression model for the first
Large Language Models and Sectoral Employment in Sweden: A Multi-Cutoff Difference-in-Differences Analysis
This thesis investigates whether recent Large Language Models (LLMs)—notably ChatGPT—have influenced sectoral employment in Sweden. Using a multi-cutoff Difference-in-Differences (DiD) design centered on the dates November 2022 (initial ChatGPT release), September 2023, March 2024, we compare employment changes in high vs. low-exposure sectors classified via exposure metrics from Eloundou et al. (
Maximizing ESG and Sharpe Ratio: A Dual Perspective on AP Fund Investments - An Analysis of Sustainability and Portfolio Optimization in Swedish National Pension Funds
