Den 1 juli 2014 valde regeringen att införa nya bestämmelser i Arbetsmiljölagens sanktionssystem, detta för att effektivisera samt bättre förebygga ohälsa och arbetsplatsolyckor. De nya bestämmelserna, som till största del handlar om sanktionsavgifter, har lett till en utökad befogenhet för Arbetsmiljöverket.
