The course contains both theoretical and practical elements within the discipline of Stylistics in Literature. The theoretical element includes the discussion of stylistic and linguistic descriptions of Swedish literary language, and models ofanalysis at various linguistic and textual levels of both poetry and prose. Aspects which are considered are: metre, figurative speech and metaphor, use of pronouns and terms of address, code-switching (which indicates, for example, social or regional affiliation), narrative structure and composition, and indications of perspective and time in literary prose. The practical element includes analyses of various types of literary text and the critical evaluation of the analyses of others.

Admission Requirements

För tillträde till kursen krävs genomgången grundläggande kurs som innefattar textanalys.

To be eligible for the course requires the completion of a
course at foundation level which includes the analysis of text.
