Course
Course 15 credits • ENGH15
This is the first part of the BA level in English, that is, the course you need to finish in order to be able to get a BA (bachelor's degree) in English. You need a BA in order to go on to get an MA (master's degree).
Teaching – autumn semester of 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect our courses and programmes. Teaching and assessment during the first half of the autumn semester 2021 will be conducted both online and on campus. From 1 November more elements will be conducted on campus – the current schedule is available on course websites and/or in Canvas.
At Lund University you get a BA in either English linguistics or English literature. However, your do not need to choose your specialisation before the start of the course, and you will get more information in the intro meeting. It may be a good idea, though, to start thinking about this choice as early as possible.
Please note that you do not write your BA dissertation (degree project) during this course.
If you have studied English at a university elsewhere, you need to have finished 60 relevant credits to be eligible. If you haven't yet got 60 credits of English, you may apply for a waiver. Please see the instructions here: www.sol.lu.se/engelska/for-studenter/dispens/
The contents of the course (English 61-75, ENGH15)
This course is considerably more academic than the previous courses in English (ENGA04 and ENGA22 or their half-time counterparts). The choice between literature and linguistics determines most of the course modules you take. If your specialisation is linguistics, you take English Linguistics: Theory, Method and Academic Writing (7.5 credits) and typically a linguistic Elective course (7.5 credits), while if your specialisation is literature, you take English Literature: Theory, Method and Academic Writing (7.5 credits) and usually a literary Elective course (7.5 credits).
After the course (English 61-75, ENGH15)
After having finished this course, you can go on to ENGK06, where you carry out your degree project.
