28 May 2025 13:15 to 14:15 Seminar

Speaker: Lena Arampatzidou

Affiliation: Department of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki

Abstract: The lecture seeks to explore the area of Medical Humanities charting a genealogy that follows the process of its configuration and leads to synthesizing a picture of its identity. Inter-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary or trans-disciplinary the distinctive component of this identity is an issue to be addressed while the personality of Medical Humanities is discussed in relation to identical entities such as Health Humanities and Critical Medical Humanities though in juxtaposition to Medical Ethics. The main idea on which the study focuses is how Medical Humanities becomes an interactive field as it brings together in dialogue and interaction, in theory and praxis (practice), Medicine and the Humanities.
