Rhythms of debt : Lived temporalities of over-indebted young adults in Sweden

This paper investigates the relationship between debt, time and power by studying over-indebted young adults’ lived experiences of temporality. Empirically, the paper is based on recurrent interviews with 18 over-indebted young adults (aged 18–25) in Sweden and is analytically centred on three phases of indebtedness: entering the credit market, becoming over-indebted, and being over-indebted. The

European Folklore in Copyright and Trade Mark Law: Clarifying the Boundaries of Intellectual Property and Cultural Heritage Protection

This thesis seeks to analyse the current legal regime on copyright and trade marks in relation to classic European folklore, specifically fairy tales; and to verify whether this regime satisfies the European Union’s goals to safeguard cultural heritage in light of intellectual property protection. For that purpose, the thesis proposes a review of legislation, case law, and literature. It departs f

Av den genomsnittliga svenskens konsumtThe public sector is responsible for 28 percent of the average Swedish citizen’s consumption-based greenhouse gas emissions (GHGe). Looking at purchasing categories with the highest GHGe, consumables – products like paper and single use items – play a significant role. The first step in becoming more circular and reducing waste is often to completely refrain from purchases when possible. However,

Towards a Sui Generis Right Framework for AI-Generated Works: A Supplementary Approach to Copyright in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Frågan om dessa verk kan erhålAI-generated works have rapidly increased during the past decade, shaking up the EU intellectual property landscape. Thanks to these intelligent systems, individuals today can create works that outshine human craftsmanship in a matter of minutes. Works utilizing AI, particularly autonomous outputs, challenge the traditional notions that copyright law relies on. The question of whether these output

Uppgraderingarna görs för atIn the context of the current climate crisis and a growing need for electricity, renewable energy plays an important role. Repowering means upgrading existing renewable energy production with new, more efficient technology to increase production in older sites. Wind-power technology has developed significantly in the last few years and upgrading wind parks in the most suitable locations is relevan

Urban Tree Conservation - A review of the Green Deal and the legal tools available to protect the public interest in urban trees under Swedish law

Urban trees are uniquely valuable in towns and cities for the ecosystem services they provide their citizens and can as such be considered a potent source of public goods and positive externalities - even when these trees are found on private properties. The importance of urban trees will only grow as events of severe heat and extreme rainfall become more and more frequent and the urgency to reduc

Uncovering the Binding Partners of PARP15: From Biophysical Characterization to Proteomic Discovery

Introduction: Discovering and characterizing protein interaction partners can provide valuable insights into key functions. It can also enable the structure determination of small and flexible proteins by providing rigidity through the formation of protein complexes. Background: To date, there are no protein structures of full-length PARP15 in the protein data bank (PDB). Utilizing binding partn

Assessing the Potential of Ozonation in the Production of Water for Injection from a Sustainability, Legal, Cost and Feasibility Perspective

Water for Injection (WFI) is a critical utility in pharmaceutical manufacturing, traditionally produced through an energy-intensive distillation process. This thesis investigates the feasibility of a more sustainable alternative, ambient WFI production using membrane-based purification technologies combined with ozonation in the storage and distribution loop. Conducted in collaboration with AstraZ

Automatic Backwash Filter Optimization for Emulsion Polymers at Dow Landskrona

Då filtret använder färdigprodukten för att backspola filtret fokuserade optimeringen på att minska mängden produkt som spolas ut, så kallat reject, då detta medför avfallskostnader och förlust aThis project aimed to optimize an automatic backwash filter for emulsion polymers at the Dow Chemical Company's facility in Landskrona, and to compare it with the existing cartridge filter system. Since the filter uses the finished product to backwash the filter, the optimization focused on reducing the amount of product that is flushed out, so-called reject, as this entails disposal costs and

PARP14 Interaction with Key Kinases in the Warburg Effect

Introduction: PARP14 is a member of the PARP superfamily of enzymes, which are responsible for the ADP-ribosylation of target proteins and nucleic acids. The enzyme performs mono-ADP-ribosylation of its targets and is involved in many cellular processes, including DNA repair, cellular differentiation and apoptosis. PARP14 is specifically regarded as a writer, reader, as well as an eraser of ADP-ri

The future of contract formation where innovation meets agreement - Automated contracting in the light of international soft law and Swedish contract law

The rapid evolution of digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) has fundamentally altered how agreements are formed and executed. Automated contract formations occur when contracts are initiated, negotiated or concluded by software agents or systems with minimal or no human intervention. This presents challenges to traditional legal concepts such a

Enabling Fragment-Based Drug Discovery for Membrane Proteins: Development of a Nanodisc-Based Weak Affinity Chromatography Method

Målet med projektet är att möFragment-based drug discovery (FBDD) has in recent years emerged as an interesting method to target challenging binding sites, such as allosteric sites or small pockets. Weak Affinity Chromatography (WAC™) is a FBDD technology where dissociation constants of injected compounds are determined by comparing retention times between a protein column to a reference column. The goal of this project was t

Det saknas tydliga riktAccess to clean water and functioning sewage water systems is a fundamental municipal responsibility, often realized through extensive networks of pipes placed in municipally owned land. When water and sewage water services are managed through municipal companies or inter-municipal associations, questions arise regarding compensation to the municipality for the use of municipal land. The lack of c

Confidentiality and credibility: An Examination of Confidential Information and Its Impact on Credibility

Mitt examensarbete undersöker räddningstjänstpersonal och sInformation management is a central part of organizations in today´s society, and critical research is continuously made to assess the reliability of sources.
