Carnaps fråga och teologins gåta : Tros- och livsåskådningsvetenskap som verklighetslära
In this text, I develop my earlier argument on the possibility of a non-confessional theological inquiry, and hence an intellectual practice devoted to the classical theological problems that begin with reason rather than faith, at secular universities in Sweden, a country with no state church and many different religions and denominations. I answer the criticism against this tentative proposal by
First observation of Λb0 → ςc (∗)++ D (∗)-K- decays
The four decays, Λb0→ςc(∗)++D(∗)-K-, are observed for the first time using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6 fb-1. By considering the Λb0→Λc+D¯0K- decay as reference channel, the following branching fraction ratios are measured to be B(Λb0→ςc++D-K-)B(Λb0→Λc+D¯0K-)=0.282±0.016±0.016±0.00

The Number of the Soul : Theology and the Metaphysics of Integrated Information Theory
Following the claim in Fides et Ratio that »[m]etaphysics … plays an essential role of meditation in theological research« (John Paul II 1998), I examine how the neuroscientists Christof Koch and Giulio Tononi's Integrated Information Theory (IIT) challenges a physicalist view on consciousness and even life. I discuss IIT in relation to the mathematician Norbert Wiener's Augustinian view on the orFollowing the claim in Fides et Ratio that »[m]etaphysics … plays an essential role of meditation in theological research« (John Paul II 1998), I examine how the neuroscientists Christof Koch and Giulio Tononi's Integrated Information Theory (IIT) challenges a physicalist view on consciousness and even life. The Noise of Unheard Sounds : Donald D. Hoffman, Chetan Prakash, and Nick Bostrom on the Subjectivity of Being
This article examines the emergence of idealism in evolutionary cognitive science by analyzing the conscious realism of the cognitive theorist Donald D. Hoffman and the mathematician Chetan Prakash. Perception is for them not about veridical experience, but rather a mechanism for survival. It helps us survive but does not give us access to reality as such. By relating Hoffman and Prakash's conscio

Plotinus
The philosophy of Plotinus plays a contradictory role in Giorgio Agamben’s corpus. He comments on Plotinus in a lapidary fashion in several articles and essays before commencing the Homo Sacer series, where he undertakes a longer and more ambiguous analysis of Plotinus in Opus Dei and The Use of Bodies. In Opus Dei, Agamben develops the brief criticism of Plotinus he proposed in The Kingdom and th
Predict with Confidence: Application of a Bayesian-Based Assimilation Framework to Optimise Wetland CH4 Emissions from a Terrestrial Ecosystem
Uncertainty in our calculations of a system reveals the limits of our knowledge. This limitation makes model representations of the Earth system challenging and our predictions less reliable. However, despite appearing chaotic and non-linear, a system always follows a deterministic trajectory, which can often be expressed probabilistically. Building on this concept, this thesis applies data assimi
The Irritability of Being : Martin Heidegger, Hans Driesch and the Future of Theology
This chapter investigates the anthropology that underpins Heidegger’s quest for the liberation of Dasein from the ‘animality’ of humanity, and that prompted him to embrace Nazism and to develop a theology of what he described as ‘the last god’. Heidegger’s ontological stipulation of the human as Dasein is contrasted with the biologist and neovitalist philosopher Hans Driesch’s philosophy of the or

Role of ursolic acid in preventing gastrointestinal cancer: recent trends and future perspectives
Gastrointestinal malignancies are one of the major worldwide health concerns. In the present review, we have assessed the plausible therapeutic implication of Ursolic Acid (UA) against gastrointestinal cancer. By modulating several signaling pathways critical in cancer development, UA could offer anti-inflammatory, anti-proliferative, and anti-metastatic properties. However, being of low oral bioa
Identification of pivotal genes and pathways in Chorea-acanthocytosis using comprehensive bioinformatic analysis.
Chorea-acanthocytosis (ChAc), an autosomal recessive disorder, is associated with cognitive and behavioral abnormalities. Previous studies were focused around exploring the functional annotation of VPS13A gene in ChAc, whereas the genetic labyrinth underlying this disease and plausible drug targets were underexplored. In the present study, we have identified the pivotal genes and molecular pathway

Feeling queer, feeling real: affective economies of truth in queer asylum politics
This article discusses the role of affect in the credibility assessment process in queer asylum claims. Through 27 semistructured interviews with caseworkers, it explores how sexual truth, in the Greek asylum apparatus, is affectively produced and analyses how access to asylum is intermediated by affective control of who is considered the “good” sexual citizen. According to the research material,
