Course 15 credits • LIVR82
Teaching – spring semester 2021
The Covid-19 pandemic continues to affect our education and most of the teaching must take place completely digitally until further notice. Pay attention to the information in the schedule and/or in Canvas – the information is continuously adjusted based on current decisions and recommendations.
The course focuses on a number of key post-war German novels, especially novels from the 1950s and the literary situation related to the influential Gruppe 47. The novels are studied in detail against the background of the political and societal situation after the end of World War II, addressing especially issues of guilt and reconciliation with the previous generation.
The course is an elective component of the Master of Arts programme in Literature – Culture – Media. It is also offered as a freestanding course.
