Human languages differ structurally across several different dimensions, and various grammatical theories have been developed to explain and describe this diversity. The course addresses a variety of construction types across the world's languages and shows how a wide perspective from the diversity of the world's languages can contributeto our better understanding of phenomena closer to home. Further, the course illustrates how different grammatical paradigms can be used and have been used to account for different kinds of phenomena.
